Last saturday I tried yet another time with my ds to see if he was ready to toilet train ... again ... not a clue! He is 3 ½ tomorrow and I was getting to think that maybe it was never going to happen! I am a great believer in letting them let you know when they are ready as they all seem to come to that point sooner or later ... hopefully sooner

Well, he went to pre-school on monday and part way through the morning announced to the teacher that he was going inside to do a wee. She went in a few minutes later looking for him so she could change his nappy and couldn't find him. Eventually, she found him on the toilet happily weeing with his dry nappy cast to the floor. When she tried to put it back on him, he protested that he wasn't going to bed so he didn't need it! At that point she thought that maybe we had been sucessfully training him at home and hadn't told them, so she decided to leave his nappy off and see how he went.

Five times in the course of the pre-school day, he went and did a wee! He was dry when I went to pick him up and although we didn't go home straight away, remained dry the entire day! We have only had 3 accidents since (twice with poo ... this may take a little longer) and he copes really well both at home and out and about!

I am so proud of my boy! As they say ... good things take time!

btw. my dd was just 3 when she was ready and went 6 days initally without an accident! I think it is worth waiting and putting them in nappies for a little bit longer ... sooooo much less stress!

:smiliedance: WELL DONE DAN! :smiliedance:

WOW thanks so much for sharing your story it gives me hope that DS won't be in nappies for the next 5 years. He has just turned 3 and I too will wait until he can tell me I think. Sounds like the way to go.

Congratulations!!!!

What she said, what she said!

Really, thankyou for sharing that story. I've been really stressing about my almost-3 dd ... we had a couple of goes of training-with-bribery and it really didn't have any effect (and partly the problem may be I don't really believe in bribes, they're not part of our day-to-day parenting in any other area)

and...

CONGRATULATIONS!
