OK, so this is really embarrassing. DP and I have a very active sex life, only the last couple of times we've got intimate I literally can't walk for hours! I'm certain it's due to a combination of increased swelling/pressure down there, baby's weight, and relaxin playing havoc with my ligaments, but it's now 4 hours since we DTD and I still am restricted to sitting with my legs raised to try and ease the pain. If I stand up I get about 10 seconds before the pain shoots right down both legs from upper/inner thigh all the way to my ankle, and after a minute or so I'm almost seeing spots from the intensity of it.

It's along shot, but aside from abstaining does anyone have any idea on how to avoid this or relieve it afterwards. I like my sex life to be spontaneous but that's not going to happen if I'm out of commission for so long afterwards!

You could try experimenting with pillows. TMI but DH has to shut my legs after sex, I cannot even move. I did some googling a while back on pregnancy & SPD and it suggested sex on a pile of pillows (from behind) which I guess would take the strain off the ligaments. I would forget about spontaneity...

Well that's a pain! Night time is out of the question cause between his work and my poregnancy we're both just too darned tired! The best we can manage is to sneak off as soon as DS goes down for his morning nap.

propping with pillows and lying on my tummy like the PP suggested is the only way we managed when I was pregnant with DS2 (severe sciatica from slipped disc).

Hmmm.... that's not going to be very fun. Th ewonly way we can use that position is if I promise not to move a muscle, and, well... not possible. :o

maybe try 'spooning'?

Just trying to think what positions were most comfortable for me to lie in :detective: DF just gave up towards the end lol.

Basically all positions are comfy... it's just afterwards that I get the pain... as soon as I stand up in fact.

hmm.. how are you getting up afterwards? Do you know what log rolling is?

If you're going from lying to standing, lie on your back with legs together and arms at your side. Try to roll your entire body in one movement towards the edge of the bed. Bend your knee's and slowly swing your legs around and off the bed then using the arm underneath you push yourself up sideways to a sitting position. Rest for a minute then slowly straighten into standing.

Spooning or using cushions are the only things that spring to mind for me.
Or how about using a couch, with you sitting on it normally and him kneeling on the floor, IYKWIM? Maybe that will take a bit of pressure off of your body?

Afterwards I nap hehe.

But yeah, when I get up I'm usually pretty mindful of my hips etc as I had bad SPD last time so I've been trying to avoid a repeat of it buy bracing with my abs and pelvic floor, keeping knees together and using my arm muscles to push myself upright after swinging my legs off the bed.

Have checked with DP... we're going to try the night time thing, so I've got at least 6 hours of lying down afterwards. Failing that, we'll just have to have our "special showers" DIY style ;) (Which oddly enough, doesn't cause me any pain afterwards at all???)

Oh FFS! 10 hours later and I'm still only *just* able to be upright. *sigh*

Roll on bedtime.
