Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone suffers from TMJ Dysfunction and if so how long did it take to clear up?? It has been incredibly painful for almost 4 months and my dr said it will probably take another six months to go away. I am so desperate for it to stop hurting!! If you have had it, how long did it take to go away and what did you do?

Hi - Haven't had it but I had a friend who did - she saw a physiotherapist who specialised in TMJ problems - took about 3 -4 treatments to clear up and some exercises to retrain her jaw movement

Hi Nizzma,

I used to suffer from it - so painful isn't it? Mine was a dental issue as I grind my teeth which caused me to get TMJ. My hubby is a dentist and he is so used to treating patients with TMJ - he said it can often stem from the teeth, so maybe see your dentist??? I had a bite splint made for me to wear at night - I only wore it for a bit and it seemed to work...
