.... they are great and I'm really loving the ease of use.

The thing is - how do you actually get the dust / dirt off of the broom- or mop-head?

I mean, they collect it beautifully but I have to use my hand to rub off the dust and dirt, and when I'm mopping, to squeeze the water out and get the dirt of the mop-head.

It's quite gross.

Am I missing something? I feel like I must be missing something ... :o

I have the Enjo mop, after each use we just put in the washing machine - in an enjo laundry bag.

We vacuum before mopping, so we dont have any real dirt/dust etc that gets stuck to the mop.

I do that, too, but how do you squeeze the excess water off the mop? I bought the Oates version and fill up the sink (just with water), dip the mop in to wet it and then mop. But if I don't squeeze the water out, it just pools everywhere on the floor at first.

Also, I like to rinse after each room, and so there is always going to be dirt on the mop even if I vacuum. If I can't squeeze the water out of the mop head before putting it back on the floor, the dirt will just go straight back on the floor again!

I should add that with two kids and two dogs there is enough dust each day for me to want to sweep the floors. I bought the broom with the fluffy orange head, and it is GREAT at collecting up the dust and dirt, BUT after each room it starts to come off and so in order to clean the head again I have to do it with my hand and then put what comes off in the bin with a dustpan and brush (same as if you sweep with a regular broom, only everything clings to the orange fluffy head really well!). I bought this so I wouldn't have to vacuum every day but now I'm wondering if there's a point...

I don't think I'm explaining myself well, but I know I'm doing something wrong....

Listen up gals - here's the system for the oates orange fluffy broom.

(Can't help with the mop as use a Vileda with a red 'cone' bucket)

YOu do a section of sweeping, then shake the orange bit in a corner somewhere. Keep sweeping and shaking the excess in that little pile. When you're finished, used dustpan and brush to collect the dust pile and throw in bin.

YOu need to have TWO orange fluffy heads. Every second or third day just throw in the wash (change over to clean head right away) and it comes up good as new.

That's what I do anyway and it works well in our house.

Thank you. I have tried that but I have to shake it pretty throughly to get anything off (the dust REALLY clings!) and that just spreads dust everywhere again. Plus it doesn't all come off.

I think they're the best thing ever, but something really needs to be addressed with actually getting all the crap they pick up off them without having to use your hands. Ewwww.

I just spoke to my SIL and asked her what she did (she was complaining that her DS (2) was fascinated with the orange swiffer :) ) she said her solution is to use one of those wire cat hair brushes- she runs it over the swiffer and pops a bag over her hand to take the dust off the cat brush. :D I am going to try it tomorrow. will let u know
