i was at the shops yesterday, enjoying a coffee and i happened to look up whilst a baby was falling from a shopping trolley baby seat head first to the concrete floor below..
not the best thing to witness..
the mother was too busy looking at clothes and the dad looked away for a second...
but the problem was that the 4month old WAS NOT BUCKLED in
they had put their own blanket over the seat, so the buckles could not be accessed
they may of not realised that babies can roll around that easily, but seriously if you dont want the baby on germs and have a comfy ride, keep it in a pram so u can strap it in!!
my husband was so angry that nobody around went up to them, so he did to make sure the baby was ok, but it was screaming for 10mins, and so my hubby told them they should go to the doctor or hospital, and signs to look out for the next couple of days...
now if it was my baby who fell, even a shorter distance id take him to the doc straight away, but this couple just proceeded to go shopping.
i know they would of been in shock and embaressed that they let that happen, but what happened to common sense?
and i was at the shops today, and saw ANOTHER mum that had done the same thing, the baby was 2-3months old, but i told her what i had witnessed and she buckled her in straight away!
the warnings on trolleys are there for a reason!!

this is just a cautionary story, not wanting to start any arguments

how awful!

I witnessed a 12 month old fall head first out of a trolley a few months ago at Target, scarey thing to watch, can happen so easily though.

And yeah i would have taken bubs to hossy straight away

Wow how scary I hope they do get him checked. When I was really little we knew a little boy who slipped and banged his head in bath mum took to local docs and he said he should be fine 3 days later he started tripping and falling turns out he had developed a bleed on the brain and got cerebral pausy from it. please don't take risks and if a fall does happen and head is banged always get it checked.

:iagree: I do the same thing with Hailee and have done so right from birth even in the pram she was strapped in the very first time she went in there.

I personally would have rushed my child to the hospital to get checked out.

Do not be fooled thinking your baby is safe if it is strapped in either!!
My 17 month old is always strapped in tight in the trolley BUT he can just stand right up anyways and the belt just falls down!!!
The pram really is the safest place for little ones.

When my DD was a new born, we ha her in a Adli's trolley (very light). We had only just started shopping when DS stood on the side of the trolley. It tip over and my DD ended up head first on the floors still strapped in. We rushed her straight to the closest hospital. She was OK but it was so scary.

BTW no one came to help either even though there was an employee only metres away.

This is what drives me up the wall!!

People who dont strap kids/babies into the trolley or pram & the ones who have the bees knees in car seats yet have the straps loose cause they like them to be cumfy.

I do the same thing as well.

We put a blanket down and weave it through the buckles.

On another note, today at woolies there were two toddlers standing up in a trolley mucking around while their parents were getting vegies, and the trolley tipped over  The girl only looked about two and her leg was trapped underneath, she was screaming. It was really awful to see :(

There is a thing at target that fits in trolleys to make them comfy for baby and strapped in.

:iagree:

My 20month ds recently jumped off the top of our lounge straight onto tiles and then didnt move or cry. I have never been so frightened in my life, we rushed him straight to the hospital and everything was ok luckily.
But any head injury really needs to be checked out. Its a lot better to be safe than sorry

This is why DD sits in the trolley itself on a blanket. If she stands up, we stop moving until she sits down again. She had a habit of taking the belt off and standing up in the baby seat

Yup, same.
Like TT, I don't get why parents loosen the straps so bubs are more comfy. Its not about comfort, they aren't going to care whether they were comfortable or not when they have brain damage or are dead. TBH, same as why I don't get people who have never had their car seats professionally installed but do them themselves. But thats a whole different story

See I dont get it....

Pple are more worried about germs so put a blanket down but dont bother about safety by strapping the kids in. Odd way people look at things.

Totally agree!! A simple lap belt is not good enough when they are quite mobile.

My 13 month old started standing up in the trolley, so now he shops with me, in the sling!! :)

I always strap Nathan in and Skye too in their prams and trolleys. Nathan has the blanket underneat him cos the seat is hard but I still manage to get the seat belt on.

DS is 3 and I still strap him in if he goes in the baby seat (he is at the upper limit for weight, so he just fits still). Luckily now he is old enough to walk beside me if we haven't got the pram, but I have always been really careful to strap him in tight.

I hope their baby is ok

My 15 month does the same! No matter how tight I put it. And those ones with the velcro strap around the back...useless!

My youngest love to get his 'seat belt' on in the trolly.
However, miss 4 at the time stood on the side of the empty trolly while I was putting carrots in a bag and the trolly tipped over...ds didn't fall out thanks to the seat belt, though he just missed whacking his head into the shelf and dd ended up under the trolly
Very scary!

Of course the Aldi employee wouldnt help you....their not paid to do anything like that 0_o...Only sit in their chair and scan items..After all thats why the prices are so cheap. :(

I seen a kid fall once, they would of been 1-2 and they were standing up at the end of the trolley, parents pushing it along:rolleyes: then they decide to look at something tuen away and let go,trolley rolls a bit and the kid got off balance and bang, head first into the tiled floor...they put the kid back in and went shopping even thou you could hear the kid screaming for like half an hour after.
