Well i have made a start........we are attempting to be failsafe, maybe not 100% but as much as possible. I have three kids DS is 12 and has no health or behavior issues but DD has ADHD and i also believe ODD. she has been medicated for ages with good but not fantasic results. and those good results are fading fast. I have tried many times to talk to our paed and gp about diet but most say it makes no difference, and i myself had never seen any REACTIONS to foods- except the odd hypered day at a party, but always put that down to over excitement. I also have another DS he is 2 and i have been very slack with him food wise... he eats chips all the time...... he is a very ACTIVE boy and chips have always been my 5 min peace and quiet ( please dont judge me, i have no help or family support) anyway so i thought the diet maybe useful for them both

So i started monday and had an extremely bad day on wednesday but then yesterday was great ... today so good so far, DD got off to school without me getting a migrane, and DS seems to be a little calmer ( may all be wishful thinking lol)

here is what we have been eating so far-

Breakfasts- Toast with cream cheese or home made pear jam. pancakes with majic cordial and sugar or pear jam, goldern syrup.

lunch- wraps or sandwich's with iceberg lettuce, philly and poached chicken breast. or saladas and philly

dinners- home made nuggets and wedges- no seasoning or salt. noodle stir fry, chicken raw cashews, cabbage, snowpeas, instant noodles no seasoning. roast chook and roast sweet and normal potato's green beans.

i have also made some slices and they have been having kettle plain chips, scotch fingers, milky bar choc, marshmallow, parkers pretsils and golden del apples for snacks.

they love the lemon cordial and that made into icey poles to.

Im sure im not doing it perfectly and it seems like they are eating a lot of processed and sugary foods at the moment and im struggling to find suitable dinners, but i really am trying.

I'd love to chat to others :-)

Hi - my sister started this a few weeks ago with her children and has noticed great changes - her DS (6yrs) is much more focused with his school work, her DD's (almost 4.5yrs) behaviour is much calmer and she's just become really pleasant to be around.

A while back I was stricter with what my kids were eating but with working and pregnancy tiredness we have been slipping into bad habits. I'm inspired to try and cut back again. I wont do full failsafe yet but will do all the additives, colouring etc. Then coming into winter I do want to do full failsafe elimination to see if I can find a dietary trigger for my DS2's asthma to hopefully not have him on as many meds this year.

Good luck with it - if anything it makes you realise just how many foods from the supermarket you assume are healthy actually have lots of hidden extras.

Hi Dallasmum,
I'am also having having a go with this diet, with DD, she loves the pear muffin recipe, not so much the museli bar slice thing... the dinners have actually been really nice!!
she has been having weetbix & a2 milk for breakfast & some fruit. lunch she takes for day care has rice cakes or sandwich(brumby's bread), chopped up red del apple, pear muffin, and a couple things i found at the health food section for kids lunchs(i checked the ingred.& made sure of no preservatives) a container of diced pear in juice, yogurt.
dinner is just whatever i pick out of the book, the stirfry recipe with the meat marinated in garlic & golden syrup was great
I think it's given us a bit more routine in eating this way which is so good, cos we kinda were a bit all over the place for a while, i'm not expecting any huge changes, DD is a normal energetic 3yo, but i wanted to see if there would be less tantrums/better concentration/listening etc if we cut out the cr*p... convenience food with preservatives/artificial colours etc which is everywhere these days, and it can only do good to start being more careful about what we eat  it's basically how i ate as a kid!!!
keep it up, hope it works well for you!
