Just wondering what length hospital stay others have had with their elective c/sections....

Hospital policy is generally 3 days i'm told however the Ob i saw last did say some women have gone home at 2 days.
With my emergency c/section i was in for a week total, but 2 nights was before the c/s (trying to be induced) then DS was born 7.30pm on the 3rd night and ended up staying for another 4 nights after that. Although i seem to recall i could have gone earlier had it not been that he had lost more than 10% weight.

And this time I'm due to go in the A.M on 1st April (a thursday), but i don't really want to miss being home for easter morning with DS1 (on the sunday)
So anyway how long was your stay??
And if you went home earlier, did you regret it a little or just glad to be out of the hospital and home with your family??

I went home day 5 because i didnt feel comfortable going home when DD wasnt feeding properly, but they asked me from like day 3 if i wanted to go... im hoping this time round if i have a c sect to go home as soon as i can i didnt enjoy being in hospital without DH there at night and having no sleep...

DS3 I stayed 5 days as I had a few complications
I wanted to go home on day 3 but couldn't

DS1 and DS2 I had emergency C-sections and came home
DS1 4 days after he was born (I had been hospital 2 days before)
DS2 it was 2 days after he was born

I went in on a Monday, and was allowed to go home on the Saturday morning (so 5 nights). We had feeding issues though, and that's the reason we were in for so long.

I was in hospy for 5 nights / 6 days. DD was born on the Monday night and we we're looking to be discharged on the Thursday but she had lost more than 10% body weight and was only born at 2.8kg, plus she was a little jaundice. So we were kept for another 2 nights and went home on the Saturday morning. If all had been well with her though we would have left after 3 nights :)

With My son Kobi i spent 8 days in after c-section but i also had Eclampsia with seizures thats why stay was so long.

With Hailee i had her on the tuesday and went home the saturday arvo. could have gone home friday if i didnt need another Iron transfusion on the saturday.

All emergency sections

With DD i was in for 7 nights

With DS1 i was in for 5 nights

With DS2 i was in for 2 nights.

I loved being home quickly with DS2 so i could spend time with family in my own bed etc.

Strange thing is the one i had the most complications with was DS2 so the shortest stay!! I just asked my OB on his rounds if i could go home and was expecting a NO but he replied are you sure blah blah blah and i got to go home.

Soren arrived at 7pm, stayed that night and the next, went home the following morning.

Instantly missed the plastic crib, the bed, the table and wanted to go back where it was easier.

Hoping to stay longer this time around.

I went home after 4 nights. I wasn't coping very well in hospital due to PND/anxiety. I really wanted to be home with DH to help me. I was glad to get home but anxiety increased and ended up on medication. Guess it would have either way. Was happy with 4 night stay though.

4 nights for the first 3 c/s. I stayed 5 nights with the most recent. Hospital got SO boring, but every time DH came to visit with the siblings, it'd be so loud & chaotic I'd think, hmmmm, might just have a bit more quiet time with this one before we go back to the madhouse  I could have gone home the next day, I felt fine, but I'm glad I had that extra quiet time to bond with my #4 :cloud9:

If you're fine & your bub is fine, there shouldn't really be a reason you'd need to stay too long - you're not attached to any drips or anything really after the first 24 hours.

My friend went home less than 36 hrs after her emergency c/s. She pretty much discharged herself against medical advice though. The hospital made her sign a form stating that she was going against their recommendations and they weren't liable if any complications arose. The community midwife came out everyday for the next 3 or 4 days as well.

It wasn't a planned one but 3 days.

First 3 - 6 nights, left on day 7. Had no problems staying that long and with dd1 and ds it was a standard stay. With dd2, they were trying to kick me out on day 5, I stayed the extra couple of days. I found the peace and quiet invaluable and the hands on help when I needed it.

This one I also plan to stay 6nights/7 days.

I stayed 3 nights with my first. This time he said I can stay up to 7 but I think I'll stay about 5.
