I just wondered, after reading through other circumcision threads, what poeles reasons were/will be?

We didn't want to get our boys done but DS1 had to be done when he was 4 because the pee hole was just big enough for him to do a wee, and there was no way the foreskin was coming back because it was to tight. So he is done but not DS2.

If we have a son, the only reasons we'd consider circumcision would be medical ones.

I circ'd my boys completely out of lack of knowledge and stupidity on my part.

I wish I would have researched before I went along with the myths presented to me when they were done.

If I were to have any other boys, I would not ever circ them.

The only reason i'd do it would be if it was needed for medical reasons.

I too would only consider it, if it were a medical neccessity. I am suprised how many people are actually getting it done for other "mythical" reasons like cleanliness. So old fashioned and untrue. But I was just curious as to why people would do this to their mini men.

Semazani, I feel for you Iread your post in the other circ thread, and I wanted to cry. Some times as humans we accept the norm just because and we don't even question it. I hope from your thread and this poll that poeple start to see how unneccesary it really is. If you expect to be able to teach your boy to brush his teeth ...he will be more than capable of cleaning his penis. Imagine it was common tradition to do this to girls? things would be different then, I'm sure.

For those of you who have chosen "other", would you share with me the reason. I am just curious that there an other that i didn't include.

I'm probably going to get a few hateful things said but I believe this is my husbands decision. Its his choice as to if its done or not.

I would only ever consider Circumcision for my boys if their was a chronic problem and I had tried every other avenue to cure the problem.

For those who chose Religous reasons, I would like to know the origin of your belief that leads you to think its a requirement of your god?

Ditto. No way, no how would any son of mine be circumsised unless it could be proven to me beyond any doubt that it was the only way to treat a chronic problem.

I could'nt bring myself to complete something that I (please note .. JMO) considered to be medically unnecessary .. so unless JAck develops problems his bits will continue to be ummm 'intact??? '

When JAck was born I was so happy with my decision .. I couldn't stand the idea of anyone touching JAck in a way that was less than adoringly ..

I felt pretty much the same way ... but when DH said that he wanted DS done .. only so that they looked the same .. I basically said that wasn't a good enough excuse for me

I also told him that if he wanted it done- that was fine - but.. he had to organise it himself .. AND take DS to the appointment ... I KNEW he would never get around to the appointment .. and he is too chicken to take him to a needles appointment .. he wouldn't cope going for a circ!!!!!

This thread is for ppl who would or have circ'd their boys to tell us the reasons for their decision. It is not a place to refute circ myths. I have moved some off topic posts to the circ myth thread. Any further offtopic posts will simply be deleted and this thread closed.
