So I have to return to work on the 4th of May. I am a childcare worker and have been for 16 years. Love my job and work with really supportive people.

I tried to get Jack into FDC but nothing is available in th earea for a 6 month old and I don't drive. I tried to enroll him at a centre 100m from my own child care centre so as I could feed him during the day and get to him quickly if needed.

When i went into enroll I was just not impressed, They were nice enough but not very professional. I was told by the qualified room leader that they would just heat any bottles of EBM i sent in using the microwave because the other ways take to long !!!!!! OMG i nearly died.

I have spoken with my boss and he has allowed Jack to come to my centre, I will only be doing 2 days a week but he will be the youngest there by a fair bit.

What do I do ? I know he will be very loved at my centre but he won't really have a peer group for awhile. I won't be in his room but next door, he will see me all the time.

Any ideas ? Anyone been in this position before ?

If you have the option, take him with you.

Heating EBM in a microwave is not on, it kills the milk.

I'd definately keep him with you if you have the option there. The other centre does not sound very good either.

I don't think the peer group thing matters til they're older. My son has been in FDC since he was three months. He's now almost 18 months, and he's more interested in the toys and just watching the older kids and doing his own thing.

I think he would get more value from being near you, then with being with peers, at his age.

That's awful about the EBM. My FDCer just puts it in a jug of warm water and leaves it for about 10 minutes.
