Can anyone tell me who is cheapest to have my car insured through. Preferably places that I can pay the insurance monthly.

I looked into a lot of companies when I insured our new car, and AAMI was the cheapest, in one instance by 50%.

There are so many variables with car insurance. I think there is a site where you type in your details and it compares them all but I could be wrong.
I have just swapped my car insurance from Suncorp to NRMA, they are the cheapest for me

i've just insured my car through Youi just today actually they were by far the cheapest..
Racv wanted $880 for comp insurance
I have just paid $400
Probably worth asking what state coz it'd probably be different in different states.
I was hunting high and low for insurance and found Bingle to be far cheaper than my other quotes obtained.

Try getting a quote through your bank.
I know St. George was really cheap for my mum and dad. Wasn't so cheap for me, but I go through a broker for all our insurance so get a good package deal:)

It depends on a lot of factors but for me racq was cheapest and I only pay an extra $30 a year to pay off my full comprehensive insurance by month.

I'm an insurance broker so of course would normally recommend insuring with one of the insurance companies that I deal with :D but if you are looking for a good deal direct with a company I would suggest looking at the RAA (not sure which state you are in...that is SA anyway) - as they have a great policy at a reasonable price.

We use AAMI, they were the cheapest for us.
iselect compare car insurance.

We are with AAMI as well and my mum recently changed from suncorp to aami and for the same coverage got it for nearly half the price.
We have never had any problems dealing with AAMI, always helpful and nice. The only issue we had was with one of their approved repairers (broke our handbrake and then tried to tell us it was like that when we left it there). DP talked to AAMI and then next thing we knew the repairer called to get him to bring it back and fixed the problem.
Most mobs do quotes online as well so you can always put in at a few and see how what you come up with.

AAMI for our street cars & Shannons for the toy car.
Budget Direct & Youi scare me, they seam to be really cheap but what are you missing out on when something goes wrong.
I dunno, they give me an odd feeling for some reason.

For us too! Since they took into consideration where the car was all day (at home in the garage) it made a HUGE difference to premiums.
We got a quote from AAMI. It was cheaper, but their replacement value for the car was less that what we could replace it for, so we found another insurer.
I'm sure that's not the case with every car, but just check what they're insuring for to make a true comparison.

AAMI was the cheapest for us by far. I can insure my brand new Tucson for $50 p/m, whereas a few other companies (including RAC and QBE), were almost twice that amount.
RAC also were the only company I encountered that had an age excess on drivers above the age of 25

im with budget direct. my insurance was $1200 and i rang every company i came across and the lowest i got was $1100, then i found budget direct and :bee: $600.
i have made 2 claims with them, one in nov and one just a few weeks back (my first claims EVER...my car seems to be having a bad run of luck )
1st, a car smacked into the car behind me and pushed it into mine so my rear was buggered. i got my choice of repairer and it was SO simple, quick and no fuss what so ever.
2nd, my rear window decided to shatter for some reason. my rear window i found out is worth $2500  so i claimed it. again quick and easy, my window had to be ordered from the manufacturer so it was not a 'yep, be over there today' thing but i think it was like a thursday and it was fixed the following monday.
LOVE budget direct and will for sure recommend them to anyone. the main thing with an insurance company is how good they are with claims, yes the cost of the insurance is important but what good is a cheap one if they are going to bugger you around when you need help ?? i honestly thought after my car was hit that my insurance was going to bite me in the rear because it was so cheap (kind of a 'was this too good to be true) but i was pleasantly surprised.
oh and i love that WE got to pick our repairers....too many dodgy things going on with insurance repairers for my liking

Depends on a lot of things. In general if you pay monthly its always going to be more expensive than if you pay 6 monthly or yearly.
There are so many different insurance companies out there these days...yes the premium might be low if you shop around but its the fine print u need to check out...what sort of services they provide if your car say is stolen, damaged due to fire theft etc...or if they have lifetime garuantee on repairs, offer discount car hire if u were in an accident etc.
I also paid through the nose for car insurance when my brand new car was 'under finance' rather than purchased from a personal loan from the bank.
we looked at a lot of places and the cheapest for us was budgetdirect

Forgot to add yesterday...wherever u do choose to insure please ensure that the quote u are given includes an excess free windscreen and no claim bonus protection. That way if u do need to make a claim during the year u won't lose your rating 1. Also be wary of companies offering 'rating 1 for life' as this often results in u being declined cover if u make a few claims.
