After reading the plethora of BF and FF threads lately (and yes, I have started a thread and posted in most of them too), I've started to realise that yes, BF is the most natural way to feed your baby and is the best "natural" food for your baby and yes, FF is the best alternative to BF so it is the best "man-made" food for your baby.

However, there is so much debate over the above.... but what happens after you stop BF or FF....is everyone forgetting we have to make sure our kids eat healthy, are active, well mannered, are nurtured etc etc - there is so much more to bringing up a child than the way they were first fed. I think alot of people have forgotten this (including me).

My above comments are not meant to shine any bad light on BF and its importance at all...just something I was thinking about tonight tis all.

Maybe I'm just having an epiphany.

I agree with everything you have said. In a perfect world I would have BF my DS - but my world is not perfect. But I still have the ability to make sure that he is healthy, has good manners, is well educated and holds good morals. Whether I fed him my milk or cow's milk is irrelevant when it comes to those things.

I prefer to look at the entirety of his journey through this world and just hope that the decisions that I make will all balance out and he'll end up happy, healthy and well adjusted.

That's exactly it...you put into words what I was trying to say in my OP in one sentence.

I sometimes think about this myself. I haven't had the fortune to have a healthy pregnancy yet, but BF and FF are things that I have already considered. Personally, I plan on BF; but I've seen so many women who have desperately tried to BF and be it a problem on their end, or the babies end, they have been unable. I cant assume that I will be able to BF without a hitch either. Life experience has taught me that this is an extraordinarily niave approach! These FF bubs grow up just as healthy as BF - but there is a lot more to life than the kind of milk that these bubs began on...

Just my 2c worth
