DS is 6 1/2 months old and is now on 3 meals a day. He still has 4 bottles ATM (5-7am, 11am, 3-3.30pm, bed-time)

I find that he is drinking a lot less (used to be 210ml, now 150-180ml). Is that normal considering he is on solids now?

Sometimes if I persist (give him a nappy change, good break inbetween his bottle) he will continue to drink more, but it just means that bottle feeding is taking a lot longer than it used to!

Sounds normal to me. Though we've been sitting at 180ml's for months.

It does get to the point where food out weighs milk.

General rule of thumb is 100ml x weight divided by bottles per day.

That sounds perfect to me. I started formula at 5.5 months with my daughter and she was having 4 x 210 mls. Once I introduced solids at 6.5 months, she dropped back to 3 x 150 mls and 1x 180 mls. Now at 9 months she is having 3 x 180 mls.

Thanks guys! So if 8kg and 4 bottles, then 200ml, so sounds about right.
Ava, that sound a little like my boy as he usually finishes his night bottle, but not the other 3 bottles.
Which bottle did she drop at around 9 months?

J has 5 200ml bottles per day & weighs 7.8kg.

We're yet to drop anything other than the 2am feed.

They are! Dropped the 2am about 3 months ago but still have everything else. No sleeping through here yet.

Sorry, I thought you meant you havent dropped the 2am feed yet. For some reason DS has refused his 11am bottle two days in a row! See how he goes.

PrettiestinPink, we dropped our 5 am bottle first, she has her last bottle at 5.45 pm (in bed by 6 pm) and she would always wake at 5 am for a bottle then we would sleep until 5.45. I only dropped it because Ava wanted to. The CHN said she had to drop back to 3 at 7 months, but I wasn't keen on cutting her back so I waited until she was ready. One morning she woke up at 5 am , so as usual I made a bottle, but she just refused it. I made it the next morning too and she did it again. The following morning, I put her straight into my bed, and she went back to sleep until 5.45. So I have never made it again.

Pretty normal. I think my girls did this, my son never had any more than 180 mils in his bottles and still does now. He has 4 bottles a day and 3 meals. He's 8 months old. Not sure when he will have less in his bottles or start cutting bottles out.
