Hi.
Just wondering if anybody knows of any ideas to help a baby (7 months) who isnt sleeping at night due to a bad cough?
He is on medication for the cough but it doesnt seem to be working very well the past 2 nights.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated for bubs and my sanity:sleeping:

My 12 wks old bub just got over the cough. what did the GP prescribe you? I had her took Amoxyll. (spell) It is a antibiotic. I get the original (not generic) to get the quality. She was on it for as long as it finish. So far it has been good. Plus, I hv the Vicks vapouriser steamer day and nite.
Good luck. You just got to bear with bub's coughs, unfotunately.
What kind of cough does he have? What medicine are you giving him?
You could try things like a vaporiser (or a bowl of boiling water under the cot) anything to dampen the air a bit.
Raise the end of the cot up so he is not laying flat...just put a pillow or even a folded up blanket, under the mattress.
How long has he had the cough? I took DD to the dr on monday coz she has had a cough for 2 weeks and it wasn't getting better, turns out her cough is nothing to worry about but she has an ear infection.
Hope your bub is better soon :)

He had a course of amoxyl and now he has given him bricanyl for the cough.
is it a chesty or dry cough?
sometimes if they have a runny nose and it drips down their throat at night it stimulates the cough. Try demazin for bubs (if I remember they can have it from 6mths...my kid is just about 3 now so can't remember when these OTC meds can be given to bubs) It will help them sleep as well.

I'd go the vapouriser (DD has croup ATM so we love our vapouriser!)
It's hard because babies under 2 shouldn't have cough suppressents as the coughing prevents a chest infection developing...if you're worried, I'd go back to the Dr.

I just read properly that u had the medications for only 2 nites. It will have to be abit longer at least a week to see the result. Is bub taking 3 times a day as prescribed? Just hang on there. :fingerscrossed: All will be fine soon.

sorry sweetvanilla i should have been clearer in my explaination. He has been on the medication for a week but the past 2 nights it hasn't seemed to work as well. I just brought a vaporiser today so I am trying that too tonight. I will try anything to try to help my poor little man to get some sleep
