My story starts with me being 9 days overdue last Tuesday 25th July, and me thinking I will have my baby today as I was booked in to be induced at our local hospital.
I got to the hospital at 8.00am and waited for the Dr to come in and see that everything was fine to break my waters, BUT..... My bubbas head was too high and they couldn't risk breaking my waters as the cord could come down 1st and because the hospital doesn't do epidurals c/section etc I was told that I would have to go to the bigger hospital in Bendigo about 30 mins from my house for them to check me out and decide what to do.
I went straight there and was given 2 internals to be told that I could be delivered today (my cervix was favourable) but they would like to see me go into labour my self and if this didn't happen by the Friday they would induce me.
I felt so down that I started to cry.....:crying: . They told me to have an u/s to check the fluid around baby and if all was ok I would have to wait until Friday......The u/s showed the fluid was a bit low and I was told to come back at 7.30am the next morning to be induced.....Yay finally my baby was to be born......
I arrived at the hospital and was taken to my labour room. I was put on the ctg machine and my waters were broken at 8.45am. I was put on a drip (which they couldn't get right the first time so stuck it in my other hand) which resulted in 2 big bruises on the tops of my hands.
My full on labour started at 11am with me only using the gas......
Stage 1 lasted 2hours 35mins and I was ready to push, but bubbas head wouldn't come down that little bit extra so they laid me on my side and said don't push.....do you know how hard that is...I was told they were going to use forceps.
The 2nd stage of labour lasted for 41 minutes in which I has an episiotomy and my little Isaac was born using forceps. I lost a lot of blood (900ml) but was lucky I didn't need a blood transfusion.
3rd stage lasted 9 minutes.
So all up my labour was 3 hours 25 minutes
Little Isaac was born into the world
July 26th
2.16pm
8lb 8oz
53cm long
36.5hc
I was getting ready to come home on Friday when they told me that they wanted to test Isaac for jauntice as he looked a little yellow he had an sbr test and it came back 318 (servere jauntice is 400 or over) so his was pretty high he had to go into special care baby unit for phototherapy under 2 lights for 24 hours and then under 1 light light for 24 hours, while in there I was called to feed him every 3 hours for 20 minutes only and then express for them to give him.
This was after they held him down and tried to take blood from the tops of his 2 hands, the joints of his 2 arms and the tops of his 2 feet (saying sorry his blood is really thick!!!) yeah my baby was a pin cushion and this made me cry:crying:
He got jauntice as we are abo incompatiable as I am O pos blood type and he is ab and at birth some of my blood passed to him and because our blood type are incompatable he got sick.
Anyway he finally got to come back to my room on Sunday morning and was told he would be retested in the morning to see that his test hadn't risen again.
Monday mornings test came back fine and I was finally discharged from hospital Monday lunchtime.
Yay it is great to be home with my family but I really can't complain as while in hospital I got a really big room with a double bed and ensuite all to my self for 6 days, beats sharing!!!
Thanks for reading and sorry if it is soooooo long
