I had my 20 week ultrasound this week and was told it was a girl :baby:!!

She said she could see the 3 white lines and the labia and pointed out that there was no "dangly" bit where if it was a boy a "dangly" bit would be!! She said that she was 95% sure that it was a girl, and if she was me she would be out buying girl's clothes!!
At the end of the u/s without me asking she said to me that she checked a few times and it was def a girl!!!

So now comes the question or questions!!

Would you be confident enough to beleive you are def carrying a girl if you were told that?

Do you think with the technology these days that they would be unlikely to get it wrong?

How accurate are ultrasounds in detecting this?

I just cant beleive that Im having a girl after 2 boys!!

What do you think?:detective:

2gorgeousboys,

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR LITTLE GIRL!!

I would say that if the tech could see 3 white lines, a labia and no dangly bits, then its sounding extremely positive to me! Although ultrasounds can be wrong, I think that they're right far more often than not. And as I said, those 3 white lines and no sign of dangly bits are very reassuring. Usually, when its a boy, its fairly obvious I believe.

Although being a mum of 2 boys myself, I too would find it very difficult to believe it if I was told I was carrying a girl in my next pregnancy. So I can certainly understand your anxiety!

So, if you don't mind me asking - did you try anything different to get your girl? We're hoping to sway for a girl this time next year :fingerscrossed: so I'm willing to take any advice I can get!

CONGRATS AGAIN! :cloud9:

I had 3 ultrasounds with my first (all different technicians) and was told 100% I was having a girl. I bought EVERYTHING pink - didn't have even a nuetral coloured singlet so imagine my suprise (and delight as I didn't want a girl) when my son was born.

Just made it hard as I didn't even have clothes for him to go home in (thanks mum).
To be honest though I just knew it was a boy - I kept saying what if its wrong and everyone kept laughing at me as so many scans said girl.

Go with your gut but to be on the safe side buy a few neutral outfits as well.

Second baby was right though - they said girl and it was a girl - for some reason I believed them that time though - and again everything was pink- luckily she was in fact a girl.

Ritali- We werent really trying for a girl... we were just trying for another baby!!

But one thing I have noticed from my boys charts and this one- we didnt really dtd that much this time, but did quite alot with the boys!! With the boys we dtd on the day of ovulation and with this one we dtd 3 days before then the day after ovulation!!

It took us 3mths to conceive ds1, 2 mths with ds2 and 9 mths with this one!! I was concerned it was taking alot longer this time, and spoke to my ob/gp.... he said "Are you trying for a girl? Girls take longer to conceive" we werent doing anything different to conceive a girl so dont know what he ment by it!!!
