Ok I need advice on nappy covers. I'm sick of PVC (they smell), fluffies (the legs stretch out & leak after a few uses.

What covers would you recommend that are reasonably priced & that hopefully will last a while?

They are to cover terry flats if that helps.

Thanks in advance :)

Try any of -Baby Beehinds, Motherease Rikki (my fav), Bummiz (another fav). Ummm, wait for Veve to arrive because those are the best ones i can think of. Dont get Tots Bots covers they feel like plastic, yuck. Definately worth getting a decent cover, saves you heaps of work.

The only two that I recommend (not that I am by anymeans an expert .. and others will say different) are bummis (which FEEL kinda fabric-y on the inside and outside)- and the babybeehinds covers (which are a little more plastic-y ../. but a lovely fit )

I dont own a b-beehind one.. but I have friends who RAVE about them .. lol

the other thing to remember is that bummis come patterned.. while bbhinds are just a pretty white..

good luck - let us know what you chose....

I have a Bummis super whisper and a BBeehinds PUL and they're both good but they really are pretty expensive :( You can always buy one commercial one and then use it as inspiration for making your own (they work out about 4 or 5 dollars each) ;)

Now your MJ is a toddler she probably won't put on weight that fast, so I think it's more worth getting the good covers now than it was earlier when they grow so fast. Also, if in doubt, err on the big side for size as terry nappies are a bit bulkier than fitteds. My DD is very chunky though, so it might be different if MJ is less elephantine :)

Thanks guys.

MJ is only a littie, 9kg fully clothed with cloth nappy on. Size 0 clothes are sometimes to big in the bum, again with cloth on.

Tea Lady, i've not used a sewing machine since yr 8 (13 yrs ago  ) So making my own isnt really an option (dont even own a machine).

I'll have a look for some of the ones mentioned online tomorrow.

Thanks again
RB

Bummis are only $17 which isn't too bad, you don't need heaps of covers either. MJ must be itty bitty my DS is 13 weeks and is 7kgs!

Wool handknit. By far the most fool proof, and fit wise will be the best.

Do you have a link to a pattern at all? Might see if my mum will do some  Will they be ok summer & winter?

Sure do. I'll pm them to you later, getting Bridies brekky. They are fine in summer as wool breathes and is a naturally cool AND warm fibre. I found them best iver flats as they stretch, and if you make shorts, the entire nappy is covered- so no blow outs!

I'm jealous RB - I showed my mum my partially knitted soaker and told her what it was and she went "oh right?" as if I was out of my mind. I don't think she'll be knitting me any

Dont worry, mine has the same reaction. Its frustrating. She keeps going on that "they'll leak, we never used them" :banghead:

I'm hoping that by just giving her the wool & a pattern, it might just sink in

Yeah, I would suggest a woollen soaker!
Apparently they are great - they only needed to be washed when smelly as long as they are lanolised.
Sorry no expert - just know from research.
I have knitted a soaker and now a longie - they are lovely.

Was wondering if you could also pm me the link or pattern as I would love to get my MIL to try to knit one for me.
Thanks a bunch
