Me too!
having twins gran is a twin  im 3rd generation so thats how i coped that gene
have sex twice in a row
the more kids you have, the older you are, the chance increase, plus if they run in your family, other than that, fertility drugs. Dont know about anything else.

I'm expecting twins in December!
If my grandma wasn't alive we would never have known that her gran had twins, so we are talking a gap of twin sets in the family of 6 generations!! So it was a surprise but yeah, I guess it's in the family history for me.

I am a twin. I have a twin brother. Twins run in every second generation on both sides of my family.

I have heard that the heavier you are the higher the likely hood of twins. Something to do with the body being able to nourish more than one offspring!
Also, the older you are, the more children you have and genetic predisposition to twin pregnancy.
Yams are apparently a good food to eat for conceiving twins?
Hmmmm...
P :)
I have twins too
I think if you are meant to have them, you are meant to have them. This is my second multiple pregnancy. My first was when I was 16.

I have 7 month old twin girls. A handful but love them. I have twin cousins on my mums side of the family, my dad has twin brother / sister and my df has twins back in his family.
hi
I am a twin, my mum is a twin, my grandma is a twin, and this goes on for another 2 generations that we can account for. I havent had twins...yet....
Fraternal twins are hereditry, its a genetic thing that the mother or grandmother passes on TO HER DAUGHTER to release more than one egg at a time, with fraternal, it isnt luck, you cant do anything to up your chances.( ooh, except fertility drugs etc) It has nothing to do with the male, ie, my husband is a twin, it doesnt come from him, so it has absolutely nothing to do with him, its only a female gene. (well, lol, he has a little to do with it.....) Someone I know, who was very naughty took 75mg of clomid 2 days before her O date, and up to 1 day after instead of her usual dose of 50mg, and got twins....
Identical twins, well, they are altogether different, they are pot luck who gets them.
I have studied, and studied cause I cant work out why I didnt get them, lol, maybe this time, maybe the gene wasnt passed to me, it isnt fair!!!!
I have an ultrasound tomorrow......

I have identical twin girls - it must be pot luck - no twins on either side of our family - I had been trying 6 weeks ! I had taken the pill for 16 years awithout a break and had a ton of folic acid - plus Im nearly 35 - I read up once I was pregnant and all these things can increase your chances apparently!!
My husband reckons it was the quality of his contribution to the event - yeah right!!!!
I have twins as well.
Boys-identical.
Hi there,
I have fraternal twin girls, Tia & Jessica, born at 38wks on the 20th March 2006 and a 2 yr old girl, Emma.
It was a huge shock to find out we were having twins (probably a good thing I was lying down when they told me!!). The first couple of months with the girls are a bit of a blur (gotta love the sleep deprivation NOT!). They are still keeping me busy, especially Emma - I now know why they call it the terrible 2's!!
Anyway, I look forward to chatting with you.

We have 6 year old identical twins.
Its hard work esp. as they now know daddy has know idea who's who.
Sad but true.
Last term one of the boys had a class performance to put on for the school but was misbehaving so was asked to stand at the back of the assembly, the other twin seeing this didn't want us (his confussed parents) to miss out on a photo oppertunity steped in and took over the role, even though they are in different classes, ironicly the teachers were none the wiser:p .. Me on the other hand didn't know whether to laugh or cry..:yelclap:
You know all we ever wanted was a boy and a girl and we now have 4 boys, oh well thats life:hugs:

im only having one baby but i am an identical twin.
its amazing the misconceptions surrounding identical twins, when i first told my mum i was pregnant she was convinced that i was having twins since i am one. She of all people should have known better
First of all, my hat goes off to all of you. To have twins or more is such a big job! (I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir! :D ) I don't know how you do it!
Can you please tell me what the poll is up to? I don't want to do a fake vote just to see the results :o thanks :D

Hello Multiple Mummies,
I'm new too and also hoping it's ok to join in. I have identical twin girls who just turned 1 last week. They are just lovely even though many have trouble telling them appart and remembering which name goes with which babe!
We also have a 5 year old son and a soon to be 4 year old daughter. Our little girls were to be our third and final baby...but we hit the jackpot at the end...

 I dunno about that!! Actually this is an old thread, way back when both of us were expecting our current twins! I think an updated one is on here somewhere, a chat thread for mums of multiples... I'll try and find it...
By the way, it's great to meet you all newbies with twins!
