hi everyone! I know I've been off from this message board the past few months but it feels good to always come back and read comforting stories that parents of children with special needs (like me) that are being shared here.
my DS2 has started going to Kindy in a support class and DH & I are both thankful to God as he settled very well even with the school bus that he has. everything's going smooth with his schooling at the moment.:)
well, what I have to share doesn't involve his schooling, actually. it happened this afternoon when we went to Spotlight to buy some stuffs for my DS1's bday loot bags. I was assisting DS1 and hubby's with DS2. DS2 found this green St Patrick foil balloons and ran around the aisles while holding the balloons. hubby went to check on me and DS1 then after a few seconds, hubby heard a voice of a woman who shouted "Come here!!" and he saw the woman grabbed the balloons from DS2's hands. DS2 ran towards us crying and the woman told my husband "Teach your child manners!" and I was like, what? what happened? and I was surprised to see that the woman is on her uniform (yes, she's an employee of Spotlight).
hubby wasn't able to keep his cool and told the woman that she shouldn't be that rude especially to children. I was so upset and wanted to cry 'coz DS2 was so upset and crying. there were lots of customers who witnessed what happened and they really saw what she did to DS2. we then asked for the manager and when the manager showed up, it seemed that she's already ready for her answers and explanation. hubby was yet to explain a lot of things but the manager just said "Yes, I already heard your explanation and I apologised for what happened but children should be a responsibility of their parents."
I know that exactly! our point is that she could've looked around to find us, the parents of the child, then tell us in a nice way that DS2 shouldn't be touching those balloons rather than yelling at my son and grabbing those balloons off DS2's hands.
this is the very first time that a stranger treated my son that way and as a mother, of course I felt bad and was hurt for him. DS2 is such a sweet boy but there are things that he couldn't comprehend, at least for now.
thanks so much for reading my post. I hope you understand how we felt. it just really broke my heart. but I believe God will definitely always look after our precious kids and He will always be there for them even when we're not around.
Have a blessed day everyone!
