DH and I like to have dessert most nights (I don't mean a full blown pudding etc, but something after dinner). We're on a pretty strict budget at the moment, can anyone recommend ideas?

Things which are inexpensive that I can think of so far are fruit salad, apple galette & jelly. Any other ideas?

We often just have custard and fruit. we make the custard ourselves. Someone mentioned sago pudding the other day and apparently thats cheap. I'm going to make it next week. Pikelets are cheap too.

My mum makes caramel or choc custard wich is super yummy!
Choc - add cocoa powder (no idea the quanity)
Caramel - swap the sugar for brown sugar.
I sooo want some but I have had ZERO success getting custard to work :hissy:

We never have dessert but if iceblocks are cheap we stock up.Like Bulla Splits 3 boxes for $9.And just have them after dinner (except DH could eat like 3 in one go:no:)

Aldi have cake mix for $1.80.Choc or butercake and it comes with icing mix and is DELICIOUS!!
I made one recently and scatter M&M's over the icing!YUM:D

making your own icy poles is a good one... with lemonade and pureed fruit.
