I have a 2.5 year old son, and he is the first baby boy in our family (relatives included). Lately, he has been getting lots of erections and whenever he does, he says it hurts. I thought perhaps it was just a new sensation which feels funny, so he says it hurts. As I said, I have no idea about baby boys - is this normal or should I be worried? Sorry, I know its a bit TMI!!

Hi there

First you should know that little boys getting erections is totally normal, mine gets them all the time.

Second I wondered if maybe the skin of his foreskin was inelastic and was hurting him when it is erect.. I know this can be a problem for uncircumcised males although I thought it always affected older children. I would be getting a doc to check him out

They can hurt when the foreskin is not long enough to support the length of the erect penis, if you get what i mean. If you have a closer look you will see that the foreskin is connected by a little piece of im not sure if it is skin/muscle kind of like what is under our tongues. This maybe what causes his pain. Either way i would definately go to a Dr to get it checked

Thanks for that. I figured the erections were normal (he is male after all!) but I will take him to the doctor to make sure everything else is OK. Thanks again. :)
