ok this a question for all you bub hubbers out there with a P&T pram. i was catching the bus today from tafe and i saw a lady with a P&T pram it was blue and it had a wierd looking seat made out of plastic on the bottom with a little boy about 18 months old maybe 2 yrs in it and she had a newborn in the actual pram part.
when she got on to the bus she was holding the newborn to feed her and the boy stayed in the pram. and the pram kept flipping backwards and she would have to quickly grab it before it did go backwards.
are all the P&T prams like this or would it be a case of the boy beign too big for the bottom seat? it didnt look like a stable pram to me.

I have the Phil and Ted E3 which is very stable. I am guessing this is a much older version of the Phil and Ted pram.

With the E3 the heavier child is at the front (I think that's right).

Check out the site www.philandteds.com

I would have thought the bigger child would be in the front to balance it out?
I've seen people with this pram and the newborn was on the bottom.

yep I have the new E3 and newborns are mean't to be in the bottom with the straps released so it is lying flat.

BFeeding on the bus and controlling a pram and a toddler -I take my hat off to her!

Was it dark blue? Cause the older style pram was light blue.

she was bottle feeding her newborn.
it was a dark blue sorta navy.it has clear sides made out of storm cover material that joint to the seat underneath. does that make sense? i had only seen red and green p&t prams lol when i was admiring them in shops :D DP doesnt like them lol

Well it does sound like the E3, I find it strange that it would be tipping though, perhaps the child exceeded the weight restrictions for sitting in the rear seat like you said.;)

With a newborn the pram should be positioned like 'Holly' said with the main part of the pram lying flat and the toddler seat should be at the front of the pram (pretty much seat sitting on top of the frame).;)

yeah i thought it was a bit odd , i saw my first p&T e3 when ds had his 12 month needles and that mum had the older child in the frount. and the pram looked so stable.
i felt so sorry for the poor boy in the pram on the bus you could tell he was frightened when it kept flying backwards :(

Oh that would have been horrible for the little fella. I think seat actually has written on it the weight restriction and that the heavier child should be at the front.

Edited to add: Yep just checked my seat and it certainly does!;) All I can say is what an irresponsible lady!:shame:

:shame: i agree. what is the weight restriction on the bottom seat?
i like the look of the P&T's but i dunno if it would be worth getting one to use for both ds's as they will be 18 months apart and ds1 is 10.2kgs now.

We're looking at the P&T E3 and everywhere we go we are told that the rule to follow for all stages of the pram (newborn & toddler; two toddlers) is that the older child is always in front.

are newborns comfy underneath?

Yeah, the older heavier child is always in front. The newborn lays down at the back and the toddler sits in the toddler seat in front. Once the newy can sit up the toddler seat switches to the back and the younger bub sits in that and the older bub goes back into the main upright pram part. This part can take a much heavier weight than the toddler seat - i think its 20 odd kg vs the 15 kg restriction of the toddler seat. I have just bought the toddler kit for my E3 and on the instructions it also says never have a child in the back part (ie the toddler seat when it is switched to the back) unless there is one in the front due to the weight imbalance causing it to to tip. So they had it all wrong - he should be in the toddler seat - but at the front at this stage - which would have been fine on his own, and then later on the new bub should only be in the back if he was sitting in front....if he was walking, she should switch the younger one to sit in the front rather than leave in back on own.... ok I have confused myself now....so no doubt I havent made much sense to any of you !!! :)

thats does make a lot of sense :D i am trying to convince DP we should get a P&T E3 now lol he thinks they look (in his words) "wierd" lol we have been looking at the baby love duolite side by side jogger. are P&T's lighter in comparrison to the baby love duolite?the babylove jogger is about 15kgs when its folded up.

I have the E3 and you do have to be careful about it flipping backwards if you take the child out of the front seat - whether it is the heavier or the lighter child. I have had instances of unloading the pram to put them in the car and if I forget and take the front child out first and we are on a slight hill - flip - over they go backwards. I was in pumpkin patch the other day and DD2 climbed into the pram while I was paying for some clothes, and DD1 wasn't in the front, so the pram flipped and the two banana smoothies on top of the pram went everywhere:o - and mine is the newest model. Definitely something to be aware of.

LOL we just see the charcoal everywhere! I can imagine red would be mega popular as well though! DH actually loves the sandy/beige colour. I say fine, so long as he's ready to scrub it once a month

Not having kids, we assume it would get grotty. Do you think it would? We love the colour but I'm just reluctant to have to worry about another dirty thing to wash, but maybe I'm just being a pesso  Do you think the beinge one would get grotty? I can imagine with 2 little ones with little grubby hands grabbing it all the time it would get filthy pretty quickly but I don't know

How have you found the red one?!

Oscar's mum

I scotchguarded my red pram and that helped alot in keeping it clean so I guess perhaps alot of scotchguard could keep the beige looking nice too!;)
