I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my third child and this time round I have headaches everyday. I thought it would stop after 4 months ( like it did with my first two) but I just have no energy and have to keep resting throughout the day as my head is soo bad.

I've tried panadol but it doesn't work and I'm also going to physio once a week. Does anyone have any suggestions of what could help or why I might be getting these headaches ( apart from the fact that I am pregnant!)......

I had headaches in my last pregnancy, pretty bad ones too and panadol just didn't go near to helping. One suggestion a doctor gave me was to have more caffeine (I usually avoid caffeine in pregnancy) so I started having a little bit each day and it did help a bit.

Mine got worse after the birth of my son and it turned out to be something completely different.

Oh you poor thing I had headaches every day during my 2nd trimester with DD. Panadol did nothing. My ob recommended panadeine, it is safe in pregnancy (not nurophen plus though) he told me to take panadiene as soon as I felt a headache come on and repeat the dose up to every 3 hours if necessary. It worked well, just need to keep your fibre and fluids up as it can cause constipation. Check with your ob/middie first but DD had no ill effects from it.

Panadole & codeine are both safe & class A drugs.

I personally would be going to the Dr, & getting my blood pressure checked. On going headaches can be a sign of pre eclamspia (spl)

If your headaches are constant and pretty bad.. almost migraine like.. Panadole won't get rid of it, laying down in the dark won't get rid of it. Time for a trip to the dr as It is a sign of pre eclampsia and should be looked @ by the DR and not just looked over. Dont want to freak anybody out, but its worth getting checked out.

Its better to be safe then sorry!!!

TT we must of posted at the same time, Lol.

I had headaches really bad when i was around 23 weeks. Went to the doctor and my blood pressure was through the roof. Had to spend a night in hospital. Everything went back to normal the next day and i havnt had the same problem since. One of the tips the midwifes gave me was to drink lots of water. I had a 1lt jug of water over 1/2hr-1hr when i spent the night in hospital and it really made me feel heaps better

I had headaches wks ago but i saw the doc who confirmed it was nothing more serious and a massge fixed it. They've been back this wk tho along with my morning sickness/vomiting and I can't see a doc cus it's the weekend, I just want to hear the heartbeat and check bubs is ok cus I had some pain/cramping last wkend too. Is it ok to go to the hospital for that or won't they see me unless it's something worse??

You can do to the hospital at any time for anything.

I went at 18 weeks for what i thought was crazy back pain but were contractions.

as well as checking with your doctor.. things like back and shoulder massages will help if it is muscle tension causing the headaches (very probable in pregnancy) .. drink loads of water, and for me, its cut back on chocolate. Chocolate always gives me headaches.. and believe me, I've suffered ALOT of headaches & migraines in my short 29 years:(

I've narrowed my headaches down as being caused by several factors (not all at the same time):

Not enough water
Too much sugary food esp chocolate
Caffeine withdrawal
Contraceptive Pill headache
Muscle tension in shoulders
Tension/stress

I empathise with you.. headaches suck big time!:geek:
