Since being home, we've only used Avent.
While teaching the Trip's to suck feed, we started with nuk teats & than moved to pur.
I used avent as I had planned on bf. But recently DD has gone completely off of them and I brought some narrow Tommy tippy ones she loves them but I have noticed an extreame increase in her wind! She used to have hardly any with avent but with these she seems to be swallowing more air! But definitely avent for a newborn for me anyway!
Avent - DS took the bottle week 2 no problems at all. He's now 4 months & taking the medium flow teats - a couple of weeks of major dribbling but now ok!

Ds used Tommee Tippee wide neck bottles with variflow teats. We tried all different kinds of teats but the variflow are the ones that he liked best, and they suit all ages, the harder they suck the more they get, so I didn't have to worry with stages. :)
We used Avent bottles with DD. She started on bottles at one week old.
Here's a tip though...they seem to leak if you put the tops on too tight. The trick we found was to tighten them to that point and then just loosen them off a little.

Any one know if this is true??....I heard the avent teats are too short and therefore the baby is not sucking with the back of their tongue, which can cause problems later with speech development etc. Like i said not sure how true it is.
I used the Pigeon peristaltic bottles/teats, i had a prem bub so was very worried about nipple confusion, but i managed to do both very successfuly. However i dont think they make a bpa free bottle, so this time, i have stocked up on a couple of Mam bottles, though planning on breast feeding if i can :) Will see how they go.

There the same length as the small Nuk's & pur's i have left over from NICU. Only difference is the base of the Avent teats is wider.

I swear by NUK. I love their antic colic teats and the slim bottles.
The slim bottles fit in bags so much better! Also the NUK teats fitter cheaper slim bottles.
I swear by pigeon. I breast and bottle combined for DD1 and the pigeon peristaltic were rec by my lactation consultant.
You can get glass pigeon bottles if you are worried about BPA free bottles, or the wide neck pigeon teats fit avent bottles.
I used the Tommee Tippee "Closer To Nature" range as I was BF as well, and the teats are wider in order to mimic a breast (something to do with nipple confusion). I think they are great
I love the MAM anti-colic bottles. I also tried medela, tt closer to nature and the Mam bottles are by far the best for my little man.

I didn't start bottle feeding until 5.5 months, so I am not sure for a new born, but I found that pigeon teats were the best transition teat for us. I didn't like the bottles as the were not BPA free. So I use the pigeon teats on Happy Baby Glass bottles (I LOVE glass bottles) and Mam Ultivent BPA free when we go out.

I love NUK too. Anti-Colic teat seems to make a huge difference and my son never fusses with his NUKs.
