Making Boy babies!!!

Hi everyone,
Not sure if I am definitely going to be joining this forum. Will be having the chat with DP tonight. We have 2 beautiful daughters, but I know that DP would really love a boy. I have heard that there are ways to try to conceive boys. Does anyone know what these are, and can someone tell me what Maybe Baby is?

Ok firstly Maybe Baby...

Maybe Baby is a saliva tester that 'ferns' when you are supposedly fertile... it works for some and not for others... they are quite expensive, about $70 but are reusable over and over again, unlike OPKs (Ovulation Predictor Kits).
There are many threads on maybe baby here, use the search feature to search for them as reading a range of them may help you.


As for a boy... theres something I can tell you about because we were going to try for a boy, however it seems I have PCOS and may well need fertility drugs so there goes that idea! Anyhow.....

I believe in the Shettles method for gender selection. No method is 100% but Shettles is proven to heighten your chances. Other methods include doing it on certain days or certain months etc.... I personally dont believe in these.

Shettles is based on the scientific fact that male (Y) and female (X) sperm are different. The male sperm are faster but dont live as long, whereas the femals are slower however live longer and are a little more robust particularly towards overheating. The basics say that to increase your chances of a boy you MUST have sex right on ovulation. They suggest the day before, and the day of, but not within 5 days before that. This is so the egg is there when the faster swimming male sperm get there first. If the egg is not yet released then the males, who may well get there first (to find no egg) will die off leaving the females (who have now caught up) who are longer living to wait around for the egg to be released. I think sperm can live inside us for a few days.

I purchased and read How to CHoose the Sex of your Baby by Shettles which is a good easy read http://www.dymocks.com.au/dynamic/Full_Details.aspx?ISBN=0732265134 The book goes through all the other tips for increasing your chances and explains why, from the no undies wearing for your man, coffee drinking right before sex, positions etc, etc.
