View Full Version : playpens etc
Any suggestions on what playpen is best... I would prefer one (if possible) that is kind of stylish.... I mean it has to sit in the middle of the lounge!!
Also.. what bath seat brand/model do you use for bubs?
Can you do a search on this forum just in case these questions have already been asked?

I can't help you with playpen I'm afraid but as for a bath seat, go for the sloped bath support that bub's can recline in. You can get them at Target or any baby store for about $15 I think. These are great as you can wash bubs properly and they are fully supported and can play with toys as they get older. My DS (9 months) loved his but as he started to outgrow it we bought a seat that sits him upright. He hates it and we still use the bath support instead.

We were given a paypen for the twins but they just hated it! I only used it a couple of times and then gave in! I also got them the swivelling bath seats from toy-r-us (about $30 each I think) but they didn't fit into them for very long so I wouldn't bother with this next bub.

fOR A PLAYPEN - I use a porta cot and sit in in the corner of the room.
FOR A BABY SEAT - Don't know how old your child is but for both my newborns I used the terry towling bath mat (I'll see if my thread is still here and post it for you) - didn't use anything when they outgrew that.
Yeah you can do searches on the forum just use the keywords ie playpens or bath seats.

Here is the link - http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=5494
So you can see that they come highly recommended by bubhubers all around
And here is a picture of what the bath aide (known in the picture as Baby Bath Supports) looks like

PLAYPEN: I was lucky enough to get a second hand wooden one for $20. Playpens can be a little pricey. I like the wooden ones as I think they are much less "obtrusive" than the big plastic ones. It's very lightweight & folds up easily. I also think it looks a bit more "classic" than the plastic ones.
Another big bonus is that we currently have it employed in blocking off our TV, video, DVD, speakers, wood heater etc from a very mobile & adventurous 9m old. All we needed to do was unhinge one side & DH also added some wooden feet (purchased at Bunnings) to give it a little more stability. A great purchase!!
BATH SEAT: We loved our little terry cloth one when DD was tiny & have since graduated to the blue plastic Safety 1st one. It's quite good. I think they're much of a muchness as they say. I recently travelled away from home & had to bath DD in a big old 50's bath without the seat & I realised how much easier it is with the seat in!!

I've got the BEST playpen!!
Its made my valco and it might be called a VeeBee I think or that might be part of the brand name.. anyway.. its got 3 pieces to make it up, you can either make it into a square or a REALLY big hexagon and it comes with a lovely padded mat for underneath. Its not like other playpens either as it has mesh sides with a picture of a bee on it! Its very cute and versatile as you can change the size/shape of it and use it with the thick padded playmat to make it safer on tiles or floor boards for bubs, or without... its all up to you!
It was quite expensive but well worth every cent! :)

After weeks of looking all the playpens I am so glad i bought the $80 wooden one. As far as i can see he will only use for about 2 months and I won't spend $300+.Originally I wanted th expensive flashy ones, but most dont fold away neatly, so i thought... i am just paying for the colours.

I agree with Charmzy.
We have the valco playpen too- Vee Bee. We bought it from Babykingdom. It is about $220. It's a hexagonal shape and it's amazing! So much room, very stylish and easy to clean. Doesn't look like a prison and the children can see you wherever you go.
I'll try to find a link for you.
