I'm currently investigating our options if we cannot have children. And yes I'm probably jumping ahead but I'm such a planner. (I'm 37 and had one miscarriage)

It seems to me that in Australia if you're infertile the options are:

1. Surrogacy, and if you can't find a friend or family member in Oz, then US or India. I think I would prefer US as it seems more ethically sound.

2. Fostering. Permenant care (Long term placements)

3. Moving to UK to live and adopting there. (I am a UK citizen).

I'd love to hear what people's opinions are on these options and whether you believe there are any positives or negatives around them. It seems like Adoption is impossible in Oz as the time frames are too long for somebody of my age.

I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this anyway.

Thanks:wave:;)

I know absolutely nothing about adoption.
but I can say I know a few kids who were foster kids and I've known ladies who were foster parents and it's supposed to be very hard work and can be very rewarding but can be painful too

An old work collegue fostered children through Barnardos and DOCS.
But I don't enough to give any info.

Surrogacy....I didn't think it was legal in Aus that's why people go overseas ?? Sorry if I have the wrong info here :o

Hi just saw this thread

Why would you consider surrogacy, Are you assuming you can't carry children yourself, as the other option is using an egg donor.
