I did the test for my third son and it was correct. Brown/greeny murky colour.
Just did it again for this pregnancy (I am 12 weeks) and it is exactly the same so I am pretty sure it's another boy. Will be able to confirm this in another 8 weeks at ultrasound.

I did the Draino test when I was about 12 weeks and it said 'girl', then I read you shouldn't do it until 16 weeks!! So I'm hoping to do it again this week. My scan is on the 25th of this month so when I find out I'll come back!

Can you tell me where it says 16 weeks? Is there a link? Do you know the reason for this? Would love to read some more about it. :)
Voted other.
Just tried the drano test out of curiousity. Im 32 weeks pregnant and know if having a girl.
It darkened, but not to brown, went from yellowy pee colour to an orangy-red :confused:

For the ph test I just used some ph paper and dipped it in. It went green straight away which is boy. Orange is for girl.

i just did a quick search and some sites are saying that the expensive InteliGneder is infact a Ph test. i just dont know whether you have to do it with FMU or if you can do it at any time of the day
im going to have to start drinking water...i just went to the loo 5 mins ago :laughing:

Yeah I heard that too. Doesn't the intelligender test go orange for a girl and green for a boy? That's the same with the ph strips.
Why don't you just do a test with both FMU and now, can't hurt. Just take the morning result more seriously. lol

im drinking water! this is making me nervous, i know its silly but if the test comes up green i will feel ill. i'm not ready to see that im having a boy yet...even if it could be wrong. oh dear. will let you know how i go. i have so many strips! and they were so expensive so its good to get some more use out of them.

Mine came up green straight away so looks like it's four boys for me! Thought I would be disappointed but for some reason I am not. No idea why. I was with number 3.
I just wanted an idea before my scans so I was prepared. I know this isn't full proof but I want to go in to the scan expecting a boy and deal with it now rather than get disappointed and upset on the day.

i'm in a similar position, we came back for #3 to have a girl as we have our two boys. i would like to be mentally prepared by the time the scan comes around. good luck to you hun!

Someone posted a link on another thread about the Draino test. I didn't know until they did!

I'd also love to know where you get ph paper/ph strips. How much is it?? I've got just under 3 weeks until my scan but I'm loving trying out the 'old wives tales' first!:laughing:

You can buy the draino from the Supermarket. Coles near us had a liquid form on the granulated type which I *hope* is the "Crystal" type it's referring to! You can get a big container of it or a 'single use sachet' for $3.99 that has just the right amount for a gender test! How convenient!:laughing:
From what I've heard about the ph test you just dip the paper in some wee and see what colour it turns, but I'm hoping someone can fill us in on where we can buy the paper. :D
what if the ph strips are not yellow but also not green? i'm totally neutral! smack bang in the middle. what does that mean :confused:

I voted: drano said girl and I'm having a girl. When I goggled the drano test it said to do from 4 months, so I was 16 weeks when I did it and the colour barely changed, basically stayed clear with a hint of yellow. I did the test again at 20 weeks and I had the same result.
At my NT scan (13 wks 6 days) the songrapher said it was looking like a girl. 18 wks scan confirmed it and then had the morph scan at 21 wks and that confirmed it again. Whether or not the drano test was 'right' who knows, chances are it would have come up same result even if I was having a boy.
From what I've read about the Intelligender it's incredibly inaccurate, so I wouldn't be wasting my money. Drano test is cheap and supposedly more accurate than Intelligender...go figure lol

I have never heard of these tests before. What PH is for which sex? Is 4-5 a girl and 7 and up a boy? How early into your pregnancy can you test?

Oh I see...you use strips. (I bought mine off ebay for about $15 whoever was asking). So its green for a boy and orange for a girl. I tried to use the strips to see the PH of my CM and nothing happened. They didn't change at all. So I had to buy a digital tester. Maybe my strips will work with urine. So...How early in your pregnancy can you test? Does anyone know?

I think with the PH strips u have to pee on them... n someone said from 4mths u can do it... How far along r u? maybe u could try the drano test as well

Bah. Ages to wait then. I'm only 8 weeks. I know, I know..Too soon to be telling people but I can't help it. I'm excited. Ha, my partner is so cute. I had my first ultrasound at 5weeks 6 days and afterward my partner was like 'Do they know what sex it is yet?' Hmmm. I wish. Then I wouldn't have to be doing all these PH, Chinese calendar, ring on a thread gender tests! I'm drawing the line at Intelligender though. Apparently that thing is wrong about half the time.

No, its my second. Um..I did one chinese calendar prediction where it calculates the gender according to your age on the Chinese calendar (which usually involves adding another year or two onto your actual age. The site I was on calculated it for you automatically) and it said I was having a girl. But then I did the Chinese calendar using my real age according to our calendar, and it said I was having a boy. So who knows.

You dont have to use the PH paper strips for the test.
I bought from Big W for about $8 the PH tester for fish ponds. They all test the same thing. The one I got you pee in a cup and use the little container you get with the PH kit to "scoop" up some wee and then squirt 2 drops of the PH tester stuff into it and tap the container. It will change colour.
Mine came back neutral PH of 6 at 5.5weeks. When I had my antenatal blood & urine tests I read the results and the PH in my wee then at 6wks was still 6 and neutral.

Says "boy" Damn. I liked the one where it calculated it using your Chinese age better. That one said girl. :D Apparently the ring on a thread test is pretty accurate too. On ingender it had about a 75%-80% success rate in the thread I was reading, and my mum reckons it was right about 19 times out of 20 when she was assessing the sex of baby birds.

Well, it says on their website that in order to use the chinese gender prediction chart, you have to use your Chinese age to calculate it. Which makes sense. But most of the other claendars floating around the internet just calculate it using your Western age. So I'm not sure which is right.

Yup this sure is right for me... added two years onto me age tho - to work out chinese age ! so yup having a girl ! I went looking for Drano at coles last night .. no luck .. which section sould i find it in ladies ..please help ? i would looked near laudry powders and dish washers as well .......

So all the other links to chinese gender charts are wrong. That's why I never paid any attention because I had a feeling that was the case. lol
I am unsure where to find drano as I still had mine from when I was pregnant 4 years ago and can't remember. Hope someone else knows for you. ;)

My Sonographer at the 22 week scan said its 80% girl.
Now did the test yesterday, not with the first urine of the day offcourse - got a dark brown color - indicating a boy .
Then did it again this morning with the first Urine ..and yup the same color -- so hmmmm... is it a boy then ??
I am confused ....

Hey Ladies,
i dont mean to scare any of you, but all of the midwives and everyone i have ever spoken to about doing "the draino test" has strongly warned me not to do it, purely because the chemicals in the draino 1) you shouldnt be around whilst pregnant 2) the chemicals in the draino are deadly and when mixed with your urine it can actually explode...so perhaps be careful....

i got it from the chemist ( i had to ask for it) but others have found some on ebay and in aquarium stores where they sell ph water testers.

make sure you ask the chemist for some ph paper for urine testing ;)

Ladies... I gt on the net and bought it from Vitality Plus Australia .....http://vitalityplusaustralia.com.auThey only charge $5.95 for 15 strips .. and free postage within Australia, i called them after i ordered as i wanted to know when t will be delievered the guy was really really nice and said i might have it as early as tomorrow ! On teh other hand hubby went searching Pharmacies and could only get 100 strips for $60 .. or something crazy like that ! So anyone interesed in getting those strips .. i will give all thumbs up for these vitality plus people!And Owen and Noah's mum /... i made sure that they are designed for urine PH testing ! hehe ! Thank you !

Mummyrose .. after doing the DRANO test .. like some ladies said .. i would not recomend it ..it is VERY TOXIC.. Hubby said that its stinks so bad that the smell could poison you to death ! Thankgod i dont know that smell ! Good luck with whatever you choose to do tho !

Hey Aquamarine , I just did this as well and mine went green !can you please confrm that he strips you used were the little yellow ones ??All i did was dipped he strip in .. and soon as it came in contact with Urine.. it went GREEEN.. so i am having a boy after all i guess..... heehe
so now i can say that the Ph test is wrong...for me anyway. mine still says girl but i'm having a boy.

looking at this tread so interesting any1 recently tried it?
i have done the ph test strip and the strip stays the same colour! whateva that means!! any1 else done it?
