I've been attempting to dreamfeed my 6 week old - if I left him to wake naturally he would wake around 12pm and I'd prefer to feed him before I go to bed. My issue with the dreamfeed is that he will only feed for approx 2mins and then is just so sleepy that he wont continue. Are some babies just not able to dreamfeed or is it an age thing? I'm thinking I might have to actually fully wake my little man up.

IMO some babies just don't like it. It NEVER worked with Andrew, and I found he slept much better if I left him alone and HE decided when to wake up for a feed.

I used to organise my sleep around his in the first few months and if it meant going to bed earlier than I would normally, then so be it. A VCR is great for taping anything you might miss and seriously....I would have preferred sleep over just about anything at that stage!!!

I tried to dream feed my baby when he was around the same age and it didn't work, I found that he was too sleepy - the older he gets the more likely he will be to take it so maybe just wait until he's a little older. I started trying again around 15 weeks and it worked then and he goes through the night now! Good luck!

If I was you I'd put the idea of the dream feed on the shelf for now....Oliver was the same....he would suck away 50ml...WOW, it would take half an hour, break my back, and he would still wake up at the same time.... He's 14 weeks now and he drinks anywhere from 80-150ml....and I think its starting to work...

Jump into bed as soon as your bub goes down, then get up when he wakes and do his feed. Staying up to do the dream feed is exausting! Belive me!!

Thanks for your replies - I think I will shelf the dream feed till he is older - although last night he woke naturally at 10pm so he fed better. I think I will just retire to bed at 8.30pm from now on and I might get 3 - 4 hrs sleep before bubs wakes.
