I was just watching the Today show and they had someone on from mothers milk bank talking about their latest fundraising efforts to pay for a pastueriser and the absolute lack of govt funding for this vital service. They have raised the money they needed this time but their costs are ongoing and they will always be in this position until the govt steps up. I am so mad, breastmilk can be lifesaving for premmie babies , the govt funds billions of dollars for drug companies but will not fund for the distribution of a lifesaving natural resource.
I urge all of you to send letters to the govt asking them to fund milk banks, to the federal and state govt. Mothers milk bank is also a registered charitable organisation so if you can make any donations to them it is fully tax deductable.
