View Full Version : Medications: Begging for a 'cure'
I don't know if there are limits for what we can post or request others to post on here. I was hoping people could post the just the name of medications (prescription or natural path) that they tired and WORKED. Lots of times in peoples posts they mention what finally worked for them, but then when I go back to find it - I can't. I was 16 weeks still puking and my GP Dr. says Maxelon is the only thing. I'm finally taking a medication only available in Canada but don't have enough to last me till w40.
I'm hoping this could be a quick reference so my fellow :barf:know what we are asking for.
1. Maxolon / Metocloprimide (prescription)
2. Motilium / Domperidone (prescription)
3. Zofran / Ondanzatron (prescription)

I had severe morning sickness and nothing that the GP prescribed worked. He decided to put me on pyridoxine (vit B6) it worked a treat. Still felt ill, but not half a bad.

Restavit - 1/2 tablet morning and 1/2 tablet night. Only take the nighttime one because it makes me sleepy and have little ones to look after during the day. Works to stop the vomiting but still have some nausea but nothing like i did without it. It is an over the counter medication but i would not take it without speaking to your doctor first.

If zofran isn't working can I suggest you have a thorough blood work up done to make sure something else isn't going on as well.
I have hyperemesis so I'm on Zofran and during my last hospital stay as I wasn't even keeping down sips of water it was realised I had hyperthyroidism as well, it usually isn't picked up as the symptoms are seen to be similar enough to pregnancy ones we ignore them. I now handle it by staying as hydrated as possible drink a min of 2L of water a day plus have a number of hydralyte iceblocks and my symtpoms are much reduced.
I have had quite a few pregnancies more than 15:o and the one thing that got me through was acupuncture it was fantastic took away all the nauseating feeling, i never used any drugs with any of my pregnancies but i do understand that every woman has different degrees of morning sickness, but give it a go if you can.
