I had my daughter at Liverpool hospital, and I was sharing the room with a woman who had everyone fooled into believing she couldnt speak english, so she could have her husband, her "translater" stay with her overnight. I asked that my husband be allowed to stay with me, because I didnt exactly feel comfortable, especially when they had visitors that didnt obey visiting hours- they had up to 20 people at any one time.
Staff did nothing, but they sure as hell made sure that my husband obeyed the visiting hours and always made sure that he was kicked out "on time".
If I was a private patient, would I be allowed to have my husband stay overnight? And regardless if I was public or private, would my daughter be able to stay with me? She will be 16 months old when new bubs is born.

I dont know anything of this particular hospital but I doubt that an older sibling would be allowed to stay with you but I could be wrong. Have you considered early discharge (4-6 hours after the birth with support) rather than stay in hospital ?

Thanks for answering :)
I used the early discharge program with my daughter, but they made me stay for 24 hours, I suppose thats because she was my first?

So this being my second are they likely to discharge us after 4-6 hours if there are no complications? That would be amazing :smiliedance:

Lenore,

No they are not likely to discharge you after 4-6 hours but if you ask for it and make your wishes known and providing everything is straight forward it can be done if that is what you want. Does the hospital have a postnatal home visiting program where the midwives visit you at home in the days after the birth ?
