I'm only 7 1/2 weeks along and I am so down and depressed. I am trying so hard to remain positive for my kids (almost 3 and 1), but how can I when I am throwing up 15 times a day?

I told myself after my miscarriage that I wouldn't complain about anything pregnancy related - but this hypermesis is HORRIBLE. I always 'knew' it was horrible. I mean, I have been through it twice before....but I forgot just how severely bad and debilitating it is.

I have pretty much been sobbing and throwing up all day today...and wondering how I am going to get through this pregnancy. I've only been throwing up for two weeks, but it feels like FOREVER.

i don't know what I am expecting from anyone or why I am even posting this...as there isn't anything that can be done. I cannot afford Zofran this time round...and that was the only things that worked last time...

I just needed to get this off me chest...because I HATE THIS. I HATE IT. I HATE IT!!!!!!

Oh Darl, I cant help at all but I do sympathise. I'm not even going to suggest any old wives tales because I'm sure after 2 previous bouts of MS you'll have heard them all.

Got anyone who can help with the other 2 kids for a couple of hours maybe?

Hang in there. I sincerely hope it gets better real soon.

if you go to emergency and explain how sick you are and how desperate you are for help, surely they could help with giving you some cheaper?

I am sure I have heard of someone getting dodancatron or whatever it is.. sounded like on-dansa- tron or something..

anyway i think it was what they call zofran?

Anyway I also was given ondansa tron or whatever when i was in hospital for an ovarian cyst last, and for my first pregnancy after getting down to 48 kgs or something dangerous and being constantly severely dehydrated , because maxalon or stemitil do not work for me, for whatever reason, I will still be throwing up although maxalon is supposed to stop you from physically being able to, I was still choking and vomiting.

maybe worth a try to get some from the hospy?

i really feel for you, you poor thing. :hugs:

:hugs:I know how bad this is, my sister has now gone through it with 2 pregancies...

All I can say is you will get through it because you have too.

You dont deserve it but it is what it is.

Stay hydrated, if you can keep water down, if you cant its too late go to hospital. Please take care of yourself, it seems it gets worse when you forget to drink which I am sure is easy to do when already have two LOs.

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

OH YES ANTI VOMIT DRUGS - there are some new ones out that cancer patients use for kemo, they are not on the PBS but they are the only ones I have heard work like a treat, also they are not a tablet they are a wafer that dissolves under your tongue very quickly. Not sure about side effects in pregnancy. Try the hospy, they finaly gave some to my sister when she was admitted every 3-4 days due to dehyration

I really feel for you. I had hg with my three boys and have had morning sickness this time. I am now 11 weeks and getting better but it lasted a lot longer with the boys and was way more severe.

It really does just knock you around and is so damn depressing. I had one day this time where I was really sick and couldn't keep anything down. I was dehydrated by the end of the day so the next morning I went to the gp and told him I needed something right away. He gave me a shot of maxalon and a script and said I could come back for a script for Zofran if it didn't work. I also took b6 from the chemist which helped.

I have heard that taking a script for zofran to the pharmacy at the hospital you can get it a lot cheaper. But don't quote me on that.

I have been checking out the hyperemesis website and forum and many of the women on there have to take a range of different medication including zofran on the drip. Maybe check that out.

I really feel for you and know exactly how you feel. Unless you have been there you can't understand how terribly awful it really is.

Maybe a trip to the hospital is in order for some fluids.

HUGE HUGS:hugs:

:hugs: and more :hugs:

I am only 5 1/2 weeks but the nausea has kicked in and am now reminded of exactly why I said I would never do this EVER again!!! Funny how the memory of how horrible it really is fades after a while!!

Do you have your mum nearby? Could she come and stay for even a few days just to help with the kids and day to day things so you can lie in bed?

It truly is such a horrible thing and just wanted you to know that I know how you feel (yours is even worse than mine, I thankfully never got admitted to hospy) and my deepest sympathy goes out to you and wanted to send you some big cyber hugs :hugs:

Thanks everyone for the support. Since putting my girls to be I have been sobbing...LOL...pathetic. Its just so hard with my husband working strange hours...and to make it worse...he is away for work for two weeks as of monday. I really don't know what I will do.

My mum lives over an hour away and my inlaws are overseas.

Mum is coming tomorrow for the day and said she will come next week for a day as well. Bless her. I think I will take myself to the Drs and see what my options are this time round.

Thanks so much again....Its nice to know that some people understand how depressing and lonely and horrible it can be.

oh hun, big :hugs: for you.

I had hyperemesis with my first 2 pregnancies. Very horrible experience indeed.

With this pregnancy i begged my doctor for something, i mentioned zofran and he said that he didn't really like using something that strong, but then he must have felt sorry for me sitting their crying my eyes out saying, "i don't know how i am going to cope".

He rang an ob friend of his and they put me on "Restavit" 1/2 tablet morning and 1/2 tablet at night. I have only been taking the night time tablet as they make you sleepy and i can say i havn't thrown up since on them. I still feel queezy and days are great but definately bearable, but i don't vomit and havn't been depressed like i was when i was sick with my first 2.

Maybe a suggestion to ask your doctor about these. It is apparently a common drug used for morning sickness in the USA.

Rest up and take care.

Hey Funny Farm - (sorry I didn't know how to quote the way that it shows up in a text box) anyway - I googled this med - Restavit- it is an antihystamine used for a sleeping pill. I don't know if it is the exact same stuff but it sounds like the stuff in the medication in Canada called Diclectin - that plus a B6 vit. It is the only medication actually specifically tested and approved for pregnancy in Canada. I find it interesting and disgusting that there are no other medications actually specifically approved for pregnancy. On forums like this - you can clearly see the demand and the number of people taking 'unapproved' meds. It would be nice is all dr. knew what woman can actually take.

Hey Drevs22, i think in the next 10-20 years there will be an increase in the use of this drug as sooo many people cannot take maxalon etc.

Apparently the plan of action with my doctor and the ob was

ginger and vitamin B6

if that doesn't work

restavit

if that doesn't work

maxalon

if that doesn't work

zofran (only as an extreme last resort)

I cannot take maxalon (have reactions to it) so i am so very grateful that this medicine is working. Would love to see it as another option for women to take that nothing else works for them.

if only men could get morning sickness so they know how it feels and might be a bit more sympathetic towards us when we are depressed and beside ourselves from all the vomiting and nausea. I try to explain to my DH that it is like sea sickness for 9 months but i don't think that even acurately describes it.
