In portraiture what do you mainly use. I sometimes use ambient light but I am a big fan of using flash mostly as a fill but I know alot of natural light photographers. What do you prefer?
I prefer natural light photography, flash just to me looks to artificial, you can uaually tell if it's a flash photo. I steer clear of the artificial. Posed shots just aren't me at all, actually they make me cringe.
Large windows, hung with sheer white curtains to act as diffusers works well for my style. Time of day and orientation of the room are important for good lighting.

I don't do much indoor photography I like to shoot outdoors alot but still prefer the flash. I don't necessarily think it always makes things look artificial if used in the right way. I hate seeing a good phoot ruined by shadows so I like to use the flash to balance out the ambient light and fill.

Flash....... I like being able to control the light a little.
Indoors anyway... outdoors I like to use natural light although dramatic effects with flash can be fun!
I definitely prefer natural light, always have. Flash has it's place, but it's all about what look you want to achieve.
I love natural light and studio. I'm not a big fan of flash, but it's needed at times.
