I wasn't sure where to post this so plz move if it is in the wrong section mods :)
DS got a note in his bag today saying they are starting show and tell at daycare (he is in the kindy room).
He is totally non-verbal, but I want him to be included so I will send something with a note attached so the teacher can share. Does this sound ok?
Also, what would I send?

I think something to share with the other kids is a good idea.
I'll be watching what ideas come in though as we have news day tomorrow and I'm totally stumped

Does he have a fave toy or a photo of from some where interesting/exciting/special you've been to?
I say anything he wants to show and tell. He don't need to speak to tell. His gestures and face expression will tell the story. if these children already know him they will be able to read him IYKWIM. if your unsure than send a note too.
There is no reason for him to miss out. My kids have shown things like, photo's, stories, a picture board, toys, drawings, sticks, sea shells, leafs, snake skin, pets, even a baby brother or sister or two. I always let my kids pick what they want to show.

I think the note is a good idea and just have a quick word to his teacher/daycare workers
As for what to take, anything he likes, a fav toy, book, photos, whatever.

Thanks :)
He has a favourite toy (for today anyway) so I will just send that with a note. I don't think he will be too willing to show/share it but ah well. Hopefully once they have done it a few times he will just get used to it!

If he can nod yes and no, perhaps your note for the teacher can prompt some yes/no questions so that he is telling some of the story for himself eg. Did mum take you there, was this a present, Do you play with this with your brother/sister etc

Is he just non verbal at school? If so, I have known children to video their news and share it with their peers that way.

He will get the gist of the whole idea once he sees other kids doing it.
Can he sign?
DS takes anything he likes. Sometimes he likes 'talking news' where they share a story, experience etc.
