Someone please say yes.
We've been dealing with very acidic nappies for a week to the point that its doing my head in. Just need to know so i can stop searching for a problem.

DEFINATELY!!!!
for us anyway... oh yuck i can still recall the smell!!!! DD used to get ear infections and tonsilitis with teeth aswell... maybe just keep an eye on their temperatures!?!
yep teething affected my boys nappies too  they both ended up with shocking nappy rash when teething because of it too.

Temps are fine. GP gave them the once over yesterday.
Its really doing my head in, going threw so many nappies its not funny. Would also explain why DD1 has a new tooth & her bottom has cleared up over night.
Just on that, does anyone know why the teething causes the nappy problems? And sometimes a snotty nose? Is it because they are susceptible to bugs and pick up little viruses, or is it directly related to the teeth coming through, no bug present?

I say its all linked.
In the space of 2 weeks, each of my 3 had 2 teeth come threw & at the same time had acidic nappies that caused a blistered nappy rash & snot noses.
For my own piece of mind & in a hope to stop a hospital stay, i do take them to the GP. If there is a bug going around, i can guarantee my 3 will get it.

t the risk of sounding silly.. What is an acidic nappy?
YES:yes:
If you speak to a doctor about it though, they say NO:no:
I always find it interesting that MUMS, seem to all complain of this, and it coincides with teeth.
Teething can make them generally unwell so I think that is why it affects their nappies, and health.
Teething gives them temps sometimes, and that is why they get cold like symptoms.
My daughter had the worst teething bottom. Her poor little bottom was blistery and bleeding on and off for a long long time.
:hugs: TT. Hang in there, it will pass.
Just thought of something.
My girl used to get thrush a lot, when she had those acidic poos.
So if a good barrier cream isn't working, try some canasten first, then put the barrier cream over the top.
It helped massively, and made a huge difference, within hours of applying it.

We got through it, all bums are clear & teeth are threw for now.
TT, my DD had this problem recently & another bubhubber told me to use Brauers Teething Relief as it's apparently supposed to reduce the acidity of their poos/wees during teething.
It doesn't mention this on the box, but I have been using it & DD's nappy rash cleared up within 24hrs & hasn't returned despite having 3 more teeth come up (have continued using the Brauers for the last 3 teeth).

Totally agree here too. My DS is 13 months and since last Tuesday has been pooing all sorts of colours, consistencies and textures (& smell) up to 6 times a day. I'm going through so many nappies, wipes and fresh clothes - the poor little thing. I took him to the GP last Friday to rule anything nasty out & had to get a stool sample (lovely!) and am waiting on pathology results but he's happy, eating well, drinking well, sleeping well and making plenty of wet nappies (icw the poo ones!).
Last night I found one new big tooth and can see more on the way. Previously with teething, he's been a little pooey for a couple of days before a tooth appears but this is the longest stretch of runny poo we've had without an obvious cause.
I can't believe teething can do this to them for so long... poor little things.

I asked earlier but no one must of seen my post on the last page.
What is acidic poos?
I know it might sounds dumb but my DD is 4 months old and for nearly 2 weeks she has had runny smelly poo with no obvious cause. Like Roxybond her paediatrician has taken wee and stool samples but since reading this I think she may be teething.
If I put it all together, chewing on her hand or anything she can fit in her mouth, smelly wees and smelly runny poos. she also has rosey cheeks. I tried having a feel around but I have no idea what im feeling for. And she just tries to chew on my finger while im trying to feel lol

Sorry I thought it got answered.
Acid poos are poos that burn their bottoms, like the teething poos described here.
Most doctors and paeds don't believe teething has anything to do with it.
But lots of Mums beg to differ.
What you are describing sounds like teething to me.

Thanks Hooves. It wouldnt suprise me Ive just started to deal with putting hearing aids in every morning and started to manage her reflux reasonably well. Of course now something else is thrown into the mix!
That is children for you. They always change right when you think you have it figured out.
Teething can go on for ages, without a tooth cutting too. It can be a pretty cruel process I reckon.
I am currently using hylands teething tablets to help my boy. They are tiny, and dissolve on the tongue.
You can give panadol or baby nurofen (6 months for this one) to help ease the discomfort.
