My DS2 is on the karicare formula and he has really bad colic. If we forget to give him the infacol with each bottle look out for the next few hours. I was wondering if it could be the formula causing the colic?
Please help.

Perhaps it's worth changing the formula to check. Did your first baby have Karicare, too ? How old is your bub ? They reckon it's wind till about 4mths.

I used Karicare for my A child (a long time ago now) and found that it was really bad for Constipation but I didn't notice a colic issue.

I hope it improves for you (and bub).

DD1&2 had enfamil, DD3 had amcal brand and DS1 had karicare and he had colic too but the girls didn't.
He is 7 weeks old today. And he has no trouble with number 2's, but he does get really sooky just before he does a poo.

My DS had wind problems with his formula. We had him on Karicare too. We changed over to Heinz and he's been better ever since.

Sounds like heinz is the one to use. Should I change him gradually or just go straight onto it?

It really is trial & error with formula and you just have to find one that suits your bub. My Gemma has always been on Karicare Soy and we have never had a problem with it.

If your bub isn't going too well it may pay to try another brand. Don't forget also, noone really knows what causes colic anyway.

Good luck :)

when we are doing the whole trial and error thing the CHN said to gradually change over so they get used to the taste etc. she said to start off with like every second bottle being the new formula, until they get used to it (she said for about 1 tin, but it didnt take that long for us) and then you can just give them the new one all the time.
unfortunately it is trial and error and we went thru about 5 or so different ones b4 we found the one best for our son.
good luck:fingerscrossed:

Thankyou everyone. Just one more question. Should I give him the infacol with the heinz formula or just with the karicare while we change over.

I'm assuming that you've made the change over.

How's it going?

Did you do the gradual change over? I would be using the infacol in every bottle until you've changed over fully to the heinz. Then gradually take bubs off the infacol.

Yes we have changed over to heinz. I did every second bottle for 2 days, then 1 bottle karicare, 2 heinz. He is now fully on heinz and he hasn't had infacol for 24 hours now and he is going great.

Thank you all for the help. Now we are all much more settled.

Though you've probably already changed over, have you tried Brauer's Colic Relief instead of the Infacol? It is homeopathic and works really well. The teething relief in this range is also AWESOME!!!

DS is on Karicare Sensicare HA-AR (due to pretty bad reflux) and we found this worked for him. He suffered terribly from colic from birth to about 10 or 12 weeks.

Hope this helps!

I used the braurer's for DS1 and it worked like a charm. I tried it with DS2 and he did nothing but power spew whenever he had it so I stopped giving it to him. His colic seems to have stopped now. He isn't having any infacol. Now all I have to do is try and work out how to get him to sleep everytime.
