Please help...my DD's outer labia is bright red, and she cries when I try to wipe it so I'd say it's as sore as it looks. :(
Anyone have any idea of what this could be? Can you get nappy rash on the fanny to???

yep you can, try putting some nappy rash creme on it and if it doesnt start looking better soon id say head off to the doctor!
Hm, Im not sure but I think it's supposed to be red. But if it's really looking sore it might be thrush. I think kidies can get it down there. I would make an appointment at the docs pronto. I have thrush at the mo and it's sooo not nice and only gets worse. I'm taking DD along with me to get her checked out aswel as she keeps crying and trying to itch herself down there.....:crying:
Don't use perfumed wipes in the meantime, try and use a warm face cloth to wipe her botty and fanny area after nappy changes, and pat, don't wipe.

To me it either sounds like nappy rash (yes you can get it there as well) or thrush. Maybe just take her to the doctor & have it checked out so he can give you some advice on what to do/get for it.

Hi its not her normal red, but really inflamed like a burn:)
I've booked an appointment for tomorrow to check for sure. Thanks everyone
Does sound like thrush unfortunetly! GRRRR it's sooooo uncomfortable!:banghead:
You could try some papaw ointment on it. That should ease the pain til you can see the dr. It could be thrush...but my DD has a similar problem when I put her in Babylove nappies...have you changed nappies/washing powder? Introduced any new foods? Sometimes that can cause rashes/redness in all kinds of unexpected places.
Hope bub is better soon :)

The only thing different in the past few days was she had a bubble bath with her cousin. Maybe it was the detergent in the bubble bath?

Yep, bubble bath will defo do it!!! Some can be really harsh on childrens skin.:(
It might be the bubble bath the foaming agent can cause irritation. My girls had the same redness that you describe so I switched to QV bath wash and have had no further problems. I used savlon on the redness and it helped it heal up as they didn't have thrush. I doubt savlon would work for thrush however.

For thrush/fungal infection/any bad nappy rash I have one word: Daktozin. It is MAGIC stuff. Get it from your pharmacy, use generously and see results. It's that good!
I find pawpaw ointment/good ol' zinc and castor oil cream great to prevent a rash, overnight for example, but when they are in pain like that it's heartbreaking and I go straight for the Daktozin.
Nappy free time on the changetable with for just a few mins every change will speed up the healing process big time and NO wipes, use warm damp facewashers till it's cleared up. Ariene had a baaaad rash on her outer labia in her first week. It's awful- good luck :hugs:
