Hi ladies,

i'm 29w5d with bub number six and feeling lots of pressure down below.
For the past 2 weeks i have been having sharp stabbing pains down below on and off but i am finding that the past week i have been having lots of BH and for the past 3 days lots of pressure and general achiness down there almost like i have pulled the muscles in my pelvic/groin area.

I am having trouble doing the simple things without yelping a bit from the pain lol getting up from sitting, rolling over in bed, walking has started to become really painful :(

I have never even had BH before until this pregnancy so this is all different to me and lots of things i am experiencing for the first time.

Anyone else experienced similar? just wondering if something is going on i should be getting checked out? thanks ladies :)

The problems with getting out of bed etc sounds like you have SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) which is very common in pregnancy. I have it and am struggling with it. I don't know how I'm going to make it to term with this pain and lack of sleep from being so uncomfortable and in pain!!!

The two halves of your pelvis are connected at the front by a stiff joint called the symphysis pubis. This joint is strengthened by a dense network of tough, flexible tissues, called ligaments. To help your baby pass through your pelvis as easily as possible, your body produces a hormone called relaxin, which softens the ligaments.

As a result, these joints move more during and just after pregnancy causing inflammation and pain, known as symphysis pubis dysfunction or SPD.

To try and help with the pain,

make sure you keep your legs together when rolling over in bed,
sleep with a pillow between your legs if you can.
When sitting keep both feet on the floor and your weight distributed evenly between your buttocks.
Try not to be in the one position for too long.
When walking take small steps and don't push through the pain
Exercises to help strengthen the pelvic floor and lower tummy will help too, you should be able to do a search online for SPD exercises.
The pain is latent meaning you may not feel the effects of being active till later in the day or the next day, so even if you are feeling okay one day don't over do it physically if you can help it. If you can afford it physiotherapy by someone who specialises in treating pregnant women is a good idea.

Have you spoken to your Dr about the stabbing pains? It could be round liagment pain, or maybe even a UTI

I ended up at the hospital with similar pain and was having trouble moving, walking etc from the pain. I thought it was a UTI but it wasn't. The Dr put it down to round ligament pain. I also think baby was lying really low and putting pressure on the area too and I had also been more active the few days before so must have over done it.

I find I have more BH's if I have overdone it and if I haven't had enough fluids, make sure you keep up your water intake and get as much rest as possible when you can (probably hard with 5 kids already)

Hope that helps, definately speak to your GP or OB though and if you're really worried about the pain and pressure call your birthing unit and they can give you some advice.
