Twice now I've had a problem with centrelink that was really frustrating and both times I've rung this number:

1800 050 004

It's a magical help line, or Customer Relations as they like to call it. I tell them what the problem is and they sort it out. The woman there, [Carly or Carrie?], has access to all sorts of information that the ordinary centrelink folk don't seem to.

Today I was told that I had to bring all sorts of information to the office, to sort out a problem that was their fault. So I rang Carrie/Carly and she rang my local office and told them to sort it out and ring me by the end of the day or she'd put in a complaint about them. She could see all the information on the system that the first unhelpful bloke claimed wasn't there. It's magic.

Yep. BUT if we all call that number everytime some little screw up happens... You get my point. That said, it is valid when they cancel your payments on you incorrectly.

What people FORGET is that legislation changes all the time, and there is a MASSIVE amount of information a Centrelink employee needs to know. Speaking from experience it is easy to get it wrong. If it is not a case of being unable to put food on the table because they cancelled your payments. Try asking for an ARO Appeal of the decision. The Authorised Review Officer will generally be a long term employee with lots of experience and will make sure the correct decision is given to you.

Not having a go SPC, you know I :skywriter:you and respect your opinion. I just don't think that calling the complaints line should be advocated unless there really is an issue. We all get frustrated with them, and their stupid lack of knowledge but there is reasons behind it.
