Hi all we discovered recently from an ultrasound that Jack has fluid on his brain, mild it said, So he is having an MRI on the 23rd of August. If there is more than A cm I think they said he will need a shunt put it.

What I want to know however is should he be not doing certain things..??

By this I mean he is now 7 months (5weeks Prem) and he can only hold his head up for a few seconds on his belly, he can occasionally roll, has only just a month ago started really reaching out for things and that is all he can do.

You know how babies are supposed to have a stepping reflex he doesnt have that either, he has really stiff legs and arches his head back.

But when I try to raise concern I kind of get brushed of, I know you shouldnt compare kids but Loch was nothing like this he walked at 8.5months. Which isnt necessarily what I want jack to do but I want him to do something

What does everyone think?? I dont know if they are related or what, I just hope he is ok.

Hi, first of all I don't have a baby with hydropcephalus and am no expert (sorry).

Do you mean - if he has hydrocephalus does this necessarily mean he should have a developmental delay?

Because as far as I know, not all kids with hydrocephalus have devlopmental delays, some do but not all.

My little boy is 7 months old and not interested in rolling and does not look like crawling any time soon, just lies on his tummy and kicks his legs! I think this is still normal though - so the fact that your boy isn't doing some things coudl stiill be normal too I reckon. I think there is a wide range of normal and to be classed as having delays there would have to be several milestones quite late.

Maybe someone on the Parents of Children Special Needs board might know??
