yep, it is like lawn bowls! But thats about all I know. I think you have to get your rocks closest to the inside ring.

Send chickadee a message - though she may not know much about it in Australia - but was a fan of it in Canada. Basically it's a mix of sliding, housework and drinking from what I gather! The Scots started it, the Canucks perfected it!!

The game is very much like lawn bowls, similar strategy and scoring. But being on ice makes a few differences:
- the ice changes during the time a game takes, so that the rocks thrown on it can behave differently (curl more or curl less) than at the beginning of the game. Expert players are constantly adjusting for the ice characteristics.
- By sweeping the ice in front of the rock it's possible to make the rock stay straight instead of curling more. It's also possible to make it travel further. So the sweepers can help a rock go where it's wanted if the player throwing it was a little off aim or threw too hard/too light.

I know there are a few clubs in Victoria, and the Docklands rink in Melbourne has curling on Mondays. I'm not sure of anything elsewhere in the country.
