My nearly 6 month old has been feeding every 3 hours or so and seems hungry still. We just started feeding her solids 3 days ago so she has the rice cereal at lunch time after a breastfeed. She is still hungry and I'm running low on the breastmilk. I've tried expressing to increase supply but I'm getting about 10ml if that!! :(

I'm not feeling well (have a bad cold and cough) so I wonder if that is affecting milk supply. Do you think my milk supply will increase when I get better? Otherwise I may have to supplement on formula since I'm running out of frozen breastmilk. Otherwise could I start giving her more solids more than once a day now?
What formula would you recommend (if I had to?)

TIA!! :)

Being sick will affect your breastmilk. keep feeding lots from the breast and your body will soon catch up!
If you do a search, you can find my post for lactation cookies which may help as well. Good luck!

You can buy Fenugreek capsules from your chemist which are by natures own , its $14.95 for 60 capsules and you take 3 capsules 3 timse a day, I started taking thme this morning and have already noticed a HUGE increase in my supply. My lactation consultant suggested I try this and or Blessed Thistle, also taken 3 capsules 3 timse per day but I ahvent tried that yet just the fenugreek.

more info on it can be found here:

Ahhh thanks for that! :)

cheezelkat - those lactation cookies sound good! Do you think it will have an effect on non lactating people? :p
Hopefully when I get better my milk supply will get back to normal :)

Charmzy - thanks for the link. Just had a read and it sounds good esp about smelling like maple syrup - yum! Will take a look tomorrow when the chemist opens.

Thanks again!
