View Full Version : Ford territory recall- suspension wear
I was watching the news the other night and saw this story http://au.todayto night.yahoo.com/article/6797124/consumer/concerns-ford-cars and yeh it scared me seeing this car was marketed at women with kids and most of the drivers of them are women with kids ,imagine if it happened at high speed ,its lucky no one has been hurt. One of the 4wds we had yrs ago has had a recent recall for its ABS and brakes as it has been found they sometimes fail to work properly when used for hard braking..yeh I told them that when our abs didn't work (it wouldn't disengage as it was supposed to) when we had an accident. I am glad the company our car is from recalls all the time to fix things found straight away. But it is worrying that ford didn't with its territories and had to be forced to do it because of a tv show. Surely lives come first.
hmmm I wouldnt believe everything you see on TT... it wouldnt be every single Territory just like the Holden Captiva's that are lemons wouldnt be every single one... they pick a few and say it is all of them when it is usually a couple out of thousands...
I am sure not all of the cars like mine have an abs problem either but isn't it nice to know that they will notify you by mail or they have it registered on the dealers computer when you go in for a service that you need to bring it in for a free check just to make sure or would you rather wait til it brakes to find out. 30 people are dead in the US thanks to toyota dismissing the first few complaints about their lexus sedans and the cruise control problem. You do have to read between the lines of alot of TTs storys but in some cases they help in the fight to make companys do the right thing.

What year/model Territory are we talking about?
What year/model Territory are we talking about?Sorry don't know why the link is not working but
I think it is the 2004-2005 but if you have one just ring the ford dealer and they will have it on the computer if yours is one of the recalled cars and thats even if its secondhand.

Oh dear I will have to give them a call we have a 2005 model.
I thought this recall was ages ago? I know there was a recall last year about the brakes and I had mine checked.
oh yeah i remember something from last year too..i havent heard anything recently but if anyone wants to know I can check with my DH but he hasnt mentioned anything...
I called my local Ford service centre and they said there hasn't been a recall but if I regularly service my car there I can bring it in and they will check it for free. Also if you notice any noise, apparently its the ball joints?
We have a late 2005 model Territory and I only just stopped going to Ford as it is out of warranty and it was so expensive there, went to K Mart last time instead.
gi-jo mine got checked for free also, ford is an absolute wrip off! I have the same model territory as yours and they told me I had a MAJOR oil leak, funny that I haven't lost any oil out of my car since then which was 3 months ago now:rolleyes: major oil leak huh! And they expected me to pay $1400 to get it fixed... yeah right!
I'll will be voiding my warranty, don't even know why there is a warranty doesn't cover anything:geek:
I was just reading thru and saw some of the replys, the story was about the ball joints hence the title about the suspension and it is a free check ,they can't charge you for recall checks and shouldn't for a simple safety check either. The brake bit I was refering to was on my pajero. As for going to ford to keep a warranty well thats prob because you paid money for a warrenty which if you refuse they will give you for free anyway (I bought my last padjy from a ford dealership and they tried to flog me the warranty til the end thru the negotiation and then gave the supposedy $700 warranty to me for free as long as I serviced the car there which I had no intention of doing ,Yes thats what the warranty is about ,servicing your car there not covering you for stuff that goes wrong sure they say they cover you for stuff but its things that either rarely go wrong with the car or they make it impossible to claim anyway. You don't even have to have a new ford serviced by ford to keep the warranty they just like to tell you that. As for the serious oil leak on one of your territorys did you ask them where? there is more than just engine oil in a car and you are within your rights to ask for a written quote first then take it to a couple of other places for quotes just to see if they all come up with the same thing. Better than just ignoring it and thinking they are ripping you off especially if its something like your gearbox or diff oil blow one of those and it will cost you thousands to fix. I only put this post up as I was commenting on the story I saw on tv, I don't have a territory but I guarantee if I did have one I would have had the ball joints checked ,I would have checked them myself before I would have even driven it to be checked.
