View Full Version : Taking chart to Dr ?
Hi  - I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken their temping charts to their Dr for advice. My temp is still really high this month and has never dropped much after my AF - and I don't think I am going to ovulate this month. I am starting to get a bit concerned and I am thinking of taking my chart with me - just don't know if it will be of any help  Has anyone else ever had their temp stay up past AF in to their next cycle?

Have you tested at all recently?
Your AF seemed pretty short, is that normal for you?

When we were TTC #1, I took my charts in a few times for my Dr to look at, but to be totally honest, she wasn't the slightest bit interested. Didn't even look at them.
Thankfully not all Dr's are like this!!
I've had friends who've had more success.
Edited to Add: Oh, and I did have one cycle in 26 months stay high from one cycle to the next that was not a PG cycle, however I think this was more to do with how I took the temp (I think I may have gotten out of bed only a couple of hours before taking my temp on waking at my usual time).
If you went to a fertility specialist they would probably look at them but I doubt a GP would. A natropath or similar that specialises in fertility may. I see a naturopath/accupuncturist and he reads my charts but my other natropath/nutritionist doesnt!
Hi Livy,
I took my charts to my GP when I went last month and he spent quite a bit of time studying them. I did make sure that he was a GP that had an interest in pregnancy though. They are only useful in showing whether or not there is a pattern of ovulation and most GPs prefer to use BT to determine Oing though.
Thanks everyone - I might have to make an appointment if my temps keep the way they are. ...... just to find out what is going on.
Doula - I tested a couple of weeks ago - just after my AF...... which was about a day shorter than normal but still just as heavy. I was sure I was pregnant because of my temps - but then got AF and a BFN.
Thanks again for all your advice :)

Hi livy,
I took my charts to my lovely doctor and he was super inpressed. He even got out books with what charts "usually look like".
I also heard that most fertility specialists want to see charts for a few months.. but when I went to see mine, he told me to chuck out my thermometer it was a waste of time.. I think every doc is different.
Keep charting for your own sake.
