On Tuesday evening, we threw out DDs bottles so we could wean her. She had only been having two bottles a day, though the second has been real hit or miss lately.
Wednesday morning she wouldn't have a bar of the sippy cup, nor a normal cup. And now she is still refusing the sippy cup and cup, but only for milk.
I'm stressing about this because I really want her to have her milk and I didn't think it would be this hard or take this long?
I've been giving her more yoghurt and cheese and stuff like that to keep up her calcium.
I don't know what to do :( DF reckons we should just get her some more bottles but I'm sick of bottles and she is nearly 2 years old!
WWYD?
My 3 1/2 yr old has just changed from a bottle to cup for morn and night milk, I tried to do the same to my 2 1/2 yr old and wouldnt have a bar of it. So if it is only morn and night he has bottles i cant see the harm, they eventually grow out of it. Go buy the bottles, less stress on you and bub.
Have you tried a straw in the cup?
In reality children only need 2 - 3 serves of dairy/day - 1 serve is 250ml milk, 1 tub yoghurt, 30g cheese. So, she really doesn't need that much milk.
My ds gets offered 200ml of pura kids milk twice a day, but often leaves it (sometimes has it all). He also has plenty of yoghurt & cheese.
She really doesn't need heaps of milk. Offer it in a cup and if she wants it she'll have it, if not, then leave it. She'll be fine getting calcium from yoghurt & cheese.

My daughter did this as well when I took her off the bottle - she was also 2.
Her hatred of milk didn't last too long though, maybe a couple of months and now she wants a glass every day (but she gets sick/rashes off milk so can't)
I wouldn't make a huge deal out of it - just increase her dairy in other areas until she starts drinking it again.

The only thing that worked for my dd in the end were those take and toss cups with the lid that has a hole, and using different coloured straws and letting her choose which colour she wants each time.
