Yesterday I took DD to a family function and she said my beautiful girl was fat :(
Emma is 6.7 kilos and 63 cms at 3 and a bit months old.
Thats not bad is it ??
who said your bubba was fat??
don't listen my DD is not 8 kilos yet and 10 months but has really chubby cheeks and people tell me she is fat, when she is under average weight. Honestly I don't think many people even know what the 'right' amount of weight is...
Your bubba is perfect I am sure and as long as your MCHN or doc is happy and you know she is healthy thats all that matters:hugs:
People try an tell me DD is 'too small' 'too big' 'too fat' 'too skinny' she cant be all of them at once right?:p
She sounds perfect!
Will was 6.2kg at 8wks and 7.5kg at 4mths, at 7mths he is about 9.5kg.
Babies are meant to have some meat on them! I'd take it as a compliment. Next time someone comments on Emma's chub say thank you!!
Perhaps this person has her own issues. Does she have kids of her own? Maybe they had weight gain isues as bubs or something and she hasn't dealt with guilt/insecurities from that?

No shes not fat.
When shes moving about she will burn it off anyway if they are that stressed.
DD is 8months old and 9kilos :o
In my opinion I don't believe babies can be "fat". They are all unique and as long as you are comfortable with her eating habits and she is alert and happy - then :shame: to anyone who says anything so nasty!
My little boy is has the opposite problem - he is little. I get comments about his size all the time, and it can be worrying but now I have come to terms with the fact that he is just a little guy and I know he is happy and healthy and that is all that matters.
If you are really concerned maybe try looking up the percentile charts in your Child Health Book? (if you have one??!!)
I still am amazed at how rude some people are!!

The chunkier the better I say!!! All my kids have been chubby and how cute are they????Aside from the fact that they are cuddly, I found my kids were very rarely sick...Take it as a compliment, you're doing a great job keeping her healthy!!!

My boys must have been really fat then. They were almost 9kg at 3mths.
Take no notice of her, as long as your DD is eating healthy and her height and weight are staying steady on the charts, who cares what she weighs??
i love babies with rolls and fat wrists :D they always look so cute

First of all how dare they tell you she's fat !! her weight is actually very normal.. trust me, i have seen MUCH bigger babies
I also reckon leg and arm fatty rolls look gorgous :D I'm so glad that Dakota has chubby rolls because Calista was 5 pound born and she's been tiny ever since. I actually told DH the other night how great it is to have a chubba bubba little girl.

The only fat baby I have ever seen was an 11mth old who weighed 16kg.  His mum came into a baby shop I was in one day trying to find longer straps for his car seat because he had outgrown his but of course, he was too young to go into a booster seat.

Now that's fat!!
You're bub is most certainly not too fat, I agree with the earlier comment that the relative that made this comment may have had probs with a bub of her own not gaining enough weight etc. Or she just didn't understand how she would make you feel by saying that. :)

For an 11mth old to outgrow his car seat harness, there is somethign wrong. DS1 was 25kg at 3 and still fit his harness with plenty of room to grow.

Shame on them for saying your bub is fat. How dare they. Some people are just never happy. They're either underweight because YOU don't feed them enough or they're fat because YOU are feeding them too much. Honestly, they're babys. You don't want them to be worried about they're weight at age 3! That makes me so mad!

well said :yelclap:
people wonder why there are 5 and 6 yr old with eating disorders these days, its probably people telling them they are fat that makes them feel bad :(:shame:
OMG how rude. Of course she isnt fat!
You cant win, i have people saying my DS is such a big boy then others commenting gee dont you feed him, he is tiny.
Try and ignore comments like that. Emma is such a little cutie!

just to echo everyone's else comments - why don't people keep their big mouths shut??? my little dude was a skinny little baby for his first 12 months - i had one of my dp's work colleagues infer that i wasn't feeding him enough...grrrr.... he's now nice and chubby and i adore his thighs. mandy - your baby is beautiful - that's all you need to know.

I think there is rarely such a thing as an "overweight" baby...and most babies are, to some degree, "fat" (but in a good, cute, natural way...no some mean way like that lady meant!).
I think a lot of the time, how big a baby should be depends on their birthweight. My DD is 12.5 months old now, and weighs 12kg. That's (generally) the weight of an 18-month-old (though a 1-year-old is only 2kg lighter...).
People always tell me how chubby and "fat" and heavy she is...and I love it. She IS a little chubby pigglet...but it's cute, she's healthy and it's not a hinderance. She was also born at 4.67kg...so was quite large from the very start (even though I ate REALLY healthily during my pregnancy).
When people comment on her size, I think, well, she started out heavier, she's going to end up heavier...
You should be happy that your baby is chubby...if she gets sick, she's got weight to lose...and it's the only time in her life where she can be acceptably chubby...so she might as well be! Chubby babies (IMO) are so super cute!

To quote spencersmum, why don't people keep their big mouths shut???
It's pretty rare for babies to be overweight..as one of my (mum of 4) friends says 'there's no such thing as a fat baby or a fat puppy"
They can have the biggest pudgiest buddha type little bodies and still be completely within the realm of normal....well, as long as they still fit into the car seat:laughing:
She sounds lovely.
