Quick question - baby is due at the end of November and considering it's quite hot in Brisbane over summer, when is it okay to take the little one for a dip in our pool? It's a salt water pool not chlorine. Also, I'm not talking about taking it for laps - just a little dip!

Thanks in advance.

I'd say as long as it's salt water it's fine. Just watch they don't swallow too much. DS won't be going near a chlorinated pool for quite some time. We even have filters on our showers and bath!!

I think whenever you are comfortable holding your bubba when it is slippery!

I take my boy to swimming lessons and have done since he was four months old! He loves it. It is a chlorine pool, but we have a warm shower as soon as we get out to rinse off the pool water.

He is now almost 11 months and can hold onto the side and almost climb out of the pool himself! IMO water awareness needs to be taught asap!

my daughter went in my parents pool when she was about 3 weeks old. it is indoors and heated and salt water chlorinated. we didn't put her head under - just let her have a little splash and a cuddle with mum and dad and she loved it. she still loves water and we have problems getting her out of the bath now at nearly 1. i would say wait a little longer if you are going to a public pool but if it is a private one that would be ok as long as it is warm enough and you wash the pool water off when you guys get out.

Both mine have been in pools salt and chlorine since about 2 weeks old, they love it, if you put bub in a chlorine pool make sure to have plenty of sunscreen and a water barrier cream like SOLICE or something to give their skin some extra protection from the chemicals.
