I am pregnant with my 3rd child, which was a bit of a surprise, and now I'm worrying about getting a new car because my car will definitely not fit 3 child seats.

I'm just wondering which cars can fit 3 seats without buying a huge vehicle if possible. I drive a VW Golf at the mo and really don't want anything too much bigger!

What do you drive that fits 3 seats?

Firstly, congratulations. :yelclap:

Although I have two kids, we have a Nissa Tiida, the 4 door sedan model and I know ours has 3 anchor points in the back so I presume it'd fit 3 seats in...can't see why it wouldn't - there's plenty of room between Ollies baby seat and Maddys booster seat.

The problem isn't so much fitting them across, its being able to fit your hand down the sides of the seats to do up the seatbelts, and its a PITA!

I think a Commodore or Camry or something would be the best bet without going up to a car with a third row. We just got a Kluger and even in that I've had to put one in the back back as 3 across the middle was just too hard getting seatbelts on and off.

Also look for narrow seats like infa secure ones if they're in boosters.

If you have a hard time fiting your hand down the sides of the seat you get this (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Seat-Belt-Extender-Seatbelt-Extension-4-ALL-Cars_W0QQitemZ200439268992QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Tr avel?hash=item2eab1c8680). We got one for DD from RACQ.

I have a ford falcon. I can get 3 car seat's in it.

Never heard of them before! Do they only fit certain cars? Are they definately safe? I need one! Or two!

I took mine to the Ambulance to fit them in. My car is a Camry and has 3 seats in the back, 2 Maxi Riders and a Fisher Price reversible. All are in 5 point harness mode. I wouldn't do it if they weren't, because I wouldn't be able to get any out in a hurry if they are not in 5 point harnesses.

I would think they are safe or RACQ wouldn't sale them. Here they are on RACQ (https://secure.racq.com.au/ssl/shopV2/shop_main.cfm?shop_categoryno=29) web site. It's about half way down the page.

They talk about what car they fit. Or you could ring them to ask.

We have a vz commodore wagon & 98 verada. Wagon is better in my opion because it's bigger for one & the doors are wider.

They are the only 2 cars we fit in.

My SIL fits 3 seats across the back seat of her mazda 6 wagon.

My hyundai i30 wagon will also fit 3 seats.

You're more likely to be able to fit a variety of seats (eg. convertible, booster, etc) in more cars than say 3 convertibles as the variety of seats can also potentially tuck in behind each other.

Oh really? We are thinking about TTC#3 but have been putting it off because of the car... we have a Maxi Rider and a S&S Royale in our camry at the moment and I thought there would be no way I could fit a third car seat? Good to hear you can fit in 2 Maxi Riders...

Yeah the reversible one is in the middle, not sure they would fit if the reversible was upright. The mother wanted it upright because he apparently sits upright when they go in his father's car but he only weighs 6kgs and the seat says that it can be used in reverse position to 12kgs, or sit upright from 9 to 18kgs. I'm all for leaving decisions up to the parents, but not when it comes to safety in my own car.

Some useful thoughts ladies, thank you. I'd forgotten that the baby would be in a reversible seat for a while, which might buy some time, and the seatbelt extender will be great for DD who's in maxi rider with a protecta harness. I hadn't even thought about reaching the seatbelt!

Congratulations!!!

I started same thread a few days ago also as we are in the same predicament and have just been to a couple of baby shops looking at seats hoping we can fit 3 into our Holden Captiva, it doesn't look like we will as with the new laws from 01 march we will need to keep DS2 in an in built 5 point harness seat until he is 4 and these seats are a little wider than say an Infa Secure booster seat.

I think the Ford Teritory and the Klugar look like to be the main contenders atm for us as we also want to be able to tow a camper trailer.

What three seats are you fitting on the back seat of an i30? Its a pretty small backseat.

Mine has 3 anchor points and it has the highest safety rating  it's a Nissan Dualis. Although I can't see how it would fit three of my carseat (I have a meridian safe 'n sound - it's really bulky and wide). I'll have to buy a slimmer car seat for the next bub.
