For those taking vitex, I am wandering if you stop once you are ovulating and then if you did not get pregnant did you start up again once your period arrives. Or did you keep taking it until you were preg?
I am just wandering as I remember reading somewhere a while ago that is can cause M/C and was worried that may have caused us to M/C.

Hiya O & B's Mum
I have been taking vitex from CD1 to Ovulation date. Then starting again at CD1.
There seems to be a lot of differing opinions on this though...
Kittykat has been kind enough to post some website links, on the TTC thread (link below)
Hope this helps. :hugs:

Kristy, I thought I had read somewhere that if taken during the first month it can reduce the risk of miscarriage. So I looked it up, anyway it says that it is a great hormonal tonic to help concieve because it helps with ovulation and that when taken through the first trimester it can reduce miscarriage. I went into a few different sites all say the same. I was thinking of taking this because of my long cycles and have been reading a lot about it. Most herbs you take for fertility can be dangerous when taken while pregnant and that is why I was interested in Vitex because it says it is safe.

Blackmores recommend you take it after ovulation, for the second half of your cycle only.

Wow, I have been reading some more and 3 sites I got on said it is fine during pregnancy and then I found one that said it isn't recommened to take while pregnant. Confusing, I think this will be a question for my Dr.

Too much information! Too many opinions! Why isn't there just an easy simple answer for all this. Like most things, you can find all the information you want to back up whatever you believe! Vitex stimulates the release of luteinising hormone and Blackmores doesn't recommend once pregnant, so I guess that means stop after ovulation...
Anyway, here are some sites I found...
