OMG I am so sick of hearing the phrase. Last time I checked it took two to make a baby.
No this isn't about women's rights. I am all for them just over hearing it's her baby like no one else matters
I can't stand "We're Pregnant" to me, that is even more inaccurate, and makes me feel a little ill!

Yup I agree. Provided the father is there offering support etc, then yes I think of it as their baby (or 'Our' baby to me).
But in the situation I've also been in when pregnant with DS where the father did not really offer me support etc, I did think of it as my baby and not his..because it didn't really affect him IYKWIM?

I have MY daughter because her father moved to England to follow a girl and never sees her and hardly has any contact with her. She is MINE, not OURS, except genetically.

Erm....It IS her baby. Just because that's so doesn't preclude the baby from being *his* as well ;) Obviously that's the case as both parents are, well, parents.
*Shrug*.

I don't like it when people say the "mother" doesn't discipline the child, or the "mother" doesn't spend enough time with the child. Fair enough if only the mother is in the picture (like with many of us in the single parent section) but for those children with 2 parents in the picture (even if they aren't together) why is it always the "mother's" doing?

Damn straight !
They ARE MY babies ....
They are also their fathers, this doesn't take away who their father is ...
I can't be their dad, just as he will never be me, their mother.
It also means he is just as responsible for them as I am yet it seems as far as society is concerned everything falls to me, well it does being that I am now a SP but even before that I was the one to blame when things were 'wrong'.
So yep sorry they ARE my babies. Simple.

 A child having two actively involved parents doesn't negate it being 'her baby' does it??
My DS told my Dh the other day that he belongs to me and that Dh is only 'allowed' to 'borrow' him   Nothing prompted or encouraged about it and he lives in a home with both parents being actively involved

In my case they are MY babies. Yes they have a father (or sperm donor) but they are MINE. I gave birth, I am with them 24/7 while he parties his way around the country. I am resposible for every part of their life while he just pops in and out (more out then in)
So sorry but they aren't his in any way - just because we had sex doesn't mean he is a father!!
Every situation is different.
When they're angels... they're my kids...
when they're rats... they're his.

They are our children and thats the way DP sees it, he gets offended if I say (accidentally) "my daughter" or "my son".
If the man isn't there physically I think he should be in note and coin form!! Not that I don't think women arn't capable enough (my Mum was single once apon a time).
But while my Dad earn't huge amounts of money. He never once helped my Mum. And it could of made our lives just that little bit easier if he wasn't a selfish pig and helped out!

When they are good, they are my children, when they are horrors they are HIS SONS! LMAO.
But I usually would refer to them as "our children"....

I have different rules. When they've got a foul nappy that needs changing, they're "his". When they want cuddles and are being angels, they're "mine". :D

Thats how i take it too

I agree, until he steps up, they are MY children. To have children you have to actually be a father. And producing kids doesn't make you a father. Just makes you a sperm donor. Takes much more to be a father.
